Yea there was a documentary showing 4 years of high school for two American students, 2 Indian students, and 2 Chinese students. The Chinese students were in all AP classes starting their freshmen year and STILL didn't get into the college they wanted to. The American students were the little above average A and B students and both got into MIT. It just shows how much more competitive China and other countries are about academics. AP classes aren't even that challenging. It's just more work. Which anyone can do if they're dedicated enough.

And wait, were these Indian and Chinese students at the same school as the American kids? Or are you talking the schools in their own countries?

Their own countries. And you are right about the AP, but I think their advanced proficiency is a little bit different...

Well, you'd have to compare the curriculum. And remember, these are only 2 students per country. I think comparing 8 students from around the world isn't a fair judgment.

And they're from different parts too. Look at us, the U.S., education is different per state. Some better than others. They could have been comparing the worst sections here to the best over there. Get what I mean?

I know what you mean, but this documentary was only roughly around what they think it is in reality. This is just a gradual difference that has been noticed since the sixties, is that American academics is starting to fall behind with other competing countries. It really isn't a big deal, considering their facts are only based on the time that American vs Indian vs Chinese students put into classwork. America scored low and that, but because of it, they ranked way above everybody else in self-confidence. So pretty much, in the end, it all balances itself out.

I almost lost myself in those words...

I had an English teacher my senior year of HS that sincerely didn't know the difference between "due" and "do". He messed it up so many times that I told him and within seconds he was on google to see if I was right.

Um. How does that even happen.

He was only 22. Even his age was strange. For a year we went to the same school, and all of the sudden he is my teacher...
