that's what I mean, if you're an adult you should make your own choices, if you can serve in the Army, vote, and smoke, you should be able to drink. I mean if your getting shipped off to army you should be able to take a drink before you go risk your life in war.

 I don't know too many people who adhere to the whole "21" thing.  Yes, you may not be able to buy alchohol, but drinking it is as easy as taking a piss....unless you have kidney stones or course

but it's not about what you can do, it's about the laws, the drinking age is stupid, the government should realise that people will drink anyway, so they should lower the age, if for anything just to make the crime rate go down, because less people will get MIPs.

 The only reason my family "allows" me to do it is because they know I am responsible about it.  The only time alchohol comes into play with my family is at parties, so its not like we are huge drinkers.  They know it is something I don't go overboard on, I don't have any plans to go and get smashed or anything.

 I can sort of see where they are coming from.  If it happened to their families it really hits home.  I can agree with that logic at least.

you're lucky, addiction runs in my family, so my parents (or I say my parents, but I mean my mom) hate alchohol.

and if you're dumb enough to drink and drive at 18, you'll still be dumb enough at 21, so it doesn't reduce them it just puts a few off untill later

 Most of my family doesn't really support drinking alchohol either, but I remember being at a labor day party last month and there was Beer everywhere (my uncle's part of the family loves 'em some sauce) and my parents were like "if you want some go ahead, your old enough to make your own decisions".
