Sorry if I'm not making myself 100% clear. I'm terrible when it comes to writing my thoughts down.
I also sounded like a dick in my last post and so this is my attempt to NOT seem bitch har har :'IThat's the thing though, he's not totally bad and unworkable as a character and does have good moments. It's just he's so unconvincing and the fact Jimmy refuses to do the rational thing to deal with him for no other reason than 'the writers didn't want him to'.
(This isn't necessarily directed to you Peach, buuut) Perhaps what I said is a bit off. Gary certainly does have the potential to be a good character, but the way R★ presented him to us made him into a bad one, with the reasons being in that essay. Now Peach's restructure of Gary in the plot... I already know about it and I believe that would make more sense.
Opinions, obviously. But the "blind fanboy/girlism," as coined by Peach, makes me dislike Gary even more. No, I'm not trying to get people to hate Gary. I'd just like them to take notice of his flaws in character development, I guess. But alas, even with the blunt facts laid out in front of them, there will always be the stubborn people who flat out disagree with these facts. Thankfully
(hopefully, anyway), we don't have people like that on this site.
And now that I think about it, Scum is right. While the players are able to see the bullshit coming out of Gary's mouth, Jimmy can't. He just arrived at the shitty school in the world, no friends at all, and the only person who attempts to hang out with him is Gary. Gary's betrayal
was a bit rushed. It also ties in with Jimmy not being very bright, I guess. However, I still think the plot would have been much better if it wasn't so obvious that Gary had
Chronic Backstabbing Disorder.
