It all depends which mod of course.
My biggest suggestion is to look over my LUA tutorial at the script modding section.

This all depends on what you want to accomplish.
There are plenty of useful tutorials and guides here.
Just look at the Scripting or Tutorials sections.

Swegta's tutorial is a GREAT start in modding as I myself learned my very few basics from that.
Even tho they only cover little of the basic and it's really a shame that Simon didnt make more of them.
My tutorial covers basic - medium and advanced.
I'm currently on a few days retirement from modding or tutorial making because I want to fully focus on a machinima I'm doing plus on the script for the new Vincent season.
