Darby/Derby POLL

I spell it Darby. Many people it is Derby. It is coded as Darby in the files and sometimes Darby and sometimes Derby in game. How do you spell it? And why?

Darby - Preps usually refer to him as Darby. It is Darby in files (EX: BOSS_Darby) Darby sounds like a good name. Derby sounds like a race.

^ Which is absolutely stupid.  Things should be pronounced the way they're spelled.  Why bother spelling them that way if they aren't pronounced like that ?

I live about 150 miles from Churchill Downs, better known as the home of the Kentucky Derby. 

We don't go around calling it the Kentucky Darby, that would sound really stupid.

Note: The POLL isn't set to expire so it won't ever stop. But we can see who hits 20 first - I hope Darby but the way things are going it's Derby. They are only 1 off though.

Yeah, I agree.  Some years back, we had this woman newscaster who's name was DIANE, but she called herself DIONNE.  Like, what the fuck ?   What's the point learning how to pronounce letters if you're not going to say them that way ?

A great number of newscasters here also call IRAQ and IRAN by the names I-ROCK and I-RON.  What the shit ?  There's no 'O' in either of them.  A long time back, they were also referring to QATAR as CUTTER.  No idea how that happens.

The funniest one is when the News People started calling the planet URANUS by the name of URINUS, just to avoid having to say 'Your Anus" on TV.
