Hey guys,
I'm new on the board here and am loving the customization, I've played Bully for years and never knew the extent of modding.
Although, I'm attempting to try and mod myself considering most links are broken. I'm starting off with the different fighting styles and have tried Gary. But, when I save the ide file and start the game, when I try to attack Jimmy seems to stand with his arms out, like there's no animation present. Is there something I'm doing wrong? If anyone could help me in my journey to be decent at modding Bully I would greatly appreciate it!

Anywho, maybe switch to a weapon and switch back to the hands, tell me what happens.

I've tried switching weapons, and I've also got a problem where I'm unable to leave buildings or interact with my bed, wardrobe etc. There must be something I'm doing wrong with the Hex Editor, because to be honest I'm still quite a little bit confused on what to change exactly!  :unsure:

That's to easy ;)

Open up the style with Hex editor and change "STUDENT" into "PLAYER1"

I've done and tried that too believe it or not! :ninja: But I'm still stuck. I'm hoping someone could post up an image or some text of a template of what to change so I can get the hang of things!

Well, after you do it, just save and re-name it "ide" and replace it with the original ide.

If you still don't understand what I am saying, best wait until Madman comes online.

I may aswell ask here, considering your guys' experience.

I want to change to a Jock fighting style, so for example, would I replace:

"player..player......Medium..PLAYER1.STAT_PLAYER.Grap....null....null....null....ÿÿÿÿ/Global/Player..Act/Player.act.."

With this?:

"JKH1_Damon..JKH1_Damon_W........Huge....JOCK....STAT_J_DAMON....F_Jocks.J_Striker...J_Damon.J_Grappler....../Global/J_Striker_A.Act/Anim/J_Striker_A.act..../Global/AI..Act/AI/AI.act...N_Damon....."

And where would I put "PLAYER1" in Damons text?

Look in the ultimate modding thread, iv'e forgot eactly what full bit is copied and pasted over to be honest, but i know you would change "JOCK..." for "PLAYER1"

That's also what I'd like to find out, if somebody could tell me what exactly needs to be copied from PLAYER1!

Go ahead and pm me thenorthstalker and I will see what I can do to help you out.

If you have xfire...then feel free to add me there and we can talk better there and I can see the full extent of what you are wanting to do ...and I will do what I can to help you learn a bit more about this.

In regards tho to the ultimate modding thread.....that thread will be completely redone soon with each tutorial in it converted to a seperate read only post in its own forum section....this way it will be easier for new modders to find the information that they need without reading through the entire thread. This is mainly due to the fact that it is pretty large...and even tho I love the way it looks....it would be far more helpful to new modders if it was in the format I described above. These changes will probably happen in the coming few days as I get the time. The original topic will remain and only have the beginning converted into a table of contents with a direct link to the proper tutorial...this way it will be easy to find and always available.

I will most likely sticky the whole thing unless anyone has a objection.
