Editing Textures Detailed Tutorial
« on: January 26, 2012, 11:23:45 PM »
Hey guys, today im gonna give you a detailed tutorial on how to edit textures. You are going to need: Img tool or Img tool 2.0, NifSkope, and an image editor that accepts tga files (Paint.NET, Photoshop, Corel)

1) Open Img tool
2) Open up World.img (which is in Stream in your Bully Dir) in Img tool
3) Make a folder somewhere, i suggest naming it after the character you are editing.
4) Find the nft file of the character you want to edit. For example, Algernon's is NDH1a_Algernon.nft.
5) Extract the nft file to your folder.
6) Once you have it to your folder, change the nft to nif. You should now be able to open it in NifSkope.
7) Once you have opened your file in NifSkope, you should see 3 lines. Right click the first one, clike texture, then export. Leave the name alone and make sure you are exporting to your folder
8) Go to your folder and open your tga file with an image editor.
9) Edit your character! First you should probably try just changing colors of uniforms and hair, later you can try and create your own clothes.
10)Once you are done editing, click file then save. It wil NOT work if you do save as.
11) go back to NifSkope. Right click on the first line, go to texture, then embed. A new line should appear at the bottom. Right clik that, go to block then remove.
12) Now rename the nif file back to nft
13) This is the last step. Go to Img tool, delete the old nft file. Go to commands then add and select your new nft file.
And your done! Run your game and look for your edited character. Hope this helped

I'm glad you've taken it upon yourself to learn modding.

A fellow modder couldn't ask for more.

Great job, man.

okay I started over. I am using Paint.NET to edit it. I clicked save and this popped up:

Save configuration

Settings
Bit Depth

( ) Auto-detect
( ) 32-bit
( ) 24-bit

[ ] Compress (RLE)

What do I do?

How do you change the texture from nft to nif? I tried renaming the file but instead of saying xxx.nft it just says xxx

My other computer has vista and I could rename the file from nft to nif.

agent vance did it work? Also, nifskope is not 100 percent compatible with bully. sometimes it shows 9 lines instead of 3.
