You make a good point.  And I'm glad that its not RE5 bad.  Still it always makes me sad when a movie or game series loses what made it special and distinct, instead favoring the ordinary and mundane in order to tap into a larger market.  :/

Agreed. Although bringing in more players on a larger market can be a good thing. The developers of Hitman: Absolution are doing that. The only thing is that they thought it over and made sure they kept the long time fans happy as well as any newcomers to the series.

They kept Hitman what it is while making it slightly flexible for new players. There's a difference there.

The best part of RE has been left behind....And that is the funny Zombies.  They were literally so stupid and that is what made them so damn hilarious.  THAT'S what I miss.

I split the Hitman talk into the Hitman: Absolution topic. We can keep our conversation going there.

I just finished the campaign for Ada. That wasn't bad. It brings out a part of the story that you don't get to see in the other three campaigns.

So I've basically finished up the story of this game. Now I'm just doing replay. Joining other people in their games or playing with friends. Usually playing with a friend makes it more interesting.

In truth, I feel that the Resident Evil series started taking a turn for the worse with Resident Evil 4 (which, don't get me wrong, is a great game - but just doesn't "feel" like traditional Resident Evil.

In terms out of games in the series I have;

Resident Evil 0 (Gamecube)
Resident Evil (Playstation Director's Cut, Gamecube Remake and DS)
Resident Evil 2 (Playstation & Gamecube)
Resident Evil 3 (Playstation & Gamecube)
Resident Evil Code Veronica X (Gamecube)
Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube)

For those who think the Gamecube's a kiddy console, they obviously didn't realise that it gets the entire Resident Evil series up to the end of it's own generation (not counting spinoff games like the light gun shooters) - as well as having 2 exclusive games (well, 4 was exclusive for about a year before it got ported to other formats - Zero is still exclusive to the Cube)

I never veered far from Playstation. Long as RE was coming out for that I was happy. Long as any games I wanted were coming out for PS I was happy. Still like that now. Yes, I'm a fanboy.

Sorry, I know that this is old but I agree with you, BF.  I love RE4 as a standalone game but not as part of the earlier series.  I always wondered if the leader of the cult (Osmund Saddler) was originally supposed to be Oswald E. Spencer in the RE4 beta.  Same initials, similar name.  (shrug)

They released Revelations on the PS3 and 360. It's a decent game, might pick it up sometime. I already beat it on the 3DS, but they've added more to the newer versions.

Was that the one that tied up the loose ends between 4 and 5?  I'd heard that Jill and Chris are finally a team again.   :hmm:

Mikami is upset with the direction the survival horror genre is going and becoming action. He wants to make a game that is just pure horror as it should be.
