PC Port - lagging
« on: January 16, 2010, 04:23:03 PM »
Hey y'all

So, today I bought Bully Scholarship Edition for PC. My PC is rather new (I play most games on highest graphics settings without problems),
but Bully however, lags ridiculously much even on 1024x768 and all other options turned off.
It feels like some kind of compatibility issue, and I was wondering; has anyone else experienced the same ?

My techspecs:
XP Pro 32bit (sp3)
2,13GHz (dual)
3GB RAM
Geforce 7900GS
Sound Blaster Live 24-bit

I've never had that problem before. I don't usually play games on my PC anymore because I got a virus on my first one because of that.

I can't help you there, Donnie....I haven't played any games on my PC since the old TRS-80 days....
Maybe someone will come by here with more expertise than I have with this....Good luck.

I would try to take it back to the store and get a PS2 instead.

How much stuff do you have on your computer?  Usually if a program lags it's because of a lack of RAM although 3 GB is a hefty amount.  I'm no computer genius, but I've had similar problems with other PC games and I decided to bone up on how it works a little bit to help myself.

Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleaner
Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

Both programs will free a little more space on your computer ! (I'm SURE I've been spelling this names wrong).

Okay, thanks everyone for your replies. I'll see what I can do from your advices. And, Tbone, I've already played Bully for PS2. I just wanted to play Scholarship Edition as well =P

I got it working now, at least playable ;)

I don't know what I did, but it might've been an audio driver issue. I play with my onboard soundcard now.
I'm actually surprised how much Scholarship differs from the original. I'm only at the beginning of chapter 3, though. I want Zoe to be introduced earlier :/

The computer I have games on is complete crap.  It's a 2003 Windows XP and if I remember correctly it has only 1GB of RAM at best.  Whenever I have it running it sounds like a damn plane taking off.  I usually try my best to avoid turning it on.

That's probably one of the first ones ever made. Mine is brand new. My old one is from 05 I think.

I remember having looking in dumpsters to find old computers... And steal their RAM bars ! The mod-computer I had then was sooo fast !
