But we’re not running a carbon-copy of Jimmy’s Bullworth story….Tony isn’t here to smash the cliques into submission, but to eventually control them and gain power over them by controlling them through commerce with goods and services. Let’s all face it, Jimmy was a not-too-bright troublemaker who was too stupid to get anything done that involved brainpower, and let others use and control him. Tony, however, is a smart kid who can see opportunities when they present themselves. Tony can make plans and carry them out. Tony’s main strengths lays in his power to negotiate, where Jimmy’s only power was brute force.
Tony’s character, and the characters of many of the others have been developed far beyond what they were in the original story. The story paths that have been taken in chapter one alone gives more insight into the various recurring characters than we ever knew in the past. We have here the means to delve into each character’s personalities in a way that the original game could not. Both old and new, we can now see the motivation of each character and clique, find out their story and what it means to live the Bullworth life.
With each author introducing new elements into the story, it becomes a real challenge to keep up with the changes. But this is what makes it fun, to adapt to the changing story elements. One thing we should all agree on is to keep moving the timeline forward in a realistic manner, just like in real life. Right now, we are between Halloween and Thanksgiving. By Christmas time, another 40,000 words away, we could start chapter three. In this way, we could have, by the story’s summertime, a full novel that could stand on it’s own.
Even the “Never Ending Story” movie had an ending….BUT, it had sequels, that carried on the story. Same thing could be done here, if there are any left to carry it on when we are gone. I think, it will take 6 months to a year to reach our own ‘Endless Summer”…..If we can stick with it that long, that is.
