I think that's more of doing something in the line of duty for Trent rather than any sort of honest 'kiss'. I can imagine the conversation in his head "Not going to Hollywood, kissing nerdy guy in public, not going to Hollywood AND BEING STUCK IN BULLWORTH FOREVER, kissing extremely nerdy guy in public... oh my god what will Kirby think of me..." then visibly shuddering before making his inevitable choice.
