How did the CD "Break" ?

Well, the thing is, the CD broke in some way, I don't know which, but the PS2 occasionally (in fact too often) stops reading from the disc. All my other games work perfectly (might be some problem with the modchip or something).
I'd have to pay like $20 for CCE, plus, if the saves don't work, I'll have to replay more than half of the game >.<

So I guess there's no European in here, who has tried ?

Well....If you don't see anything obviously wrong with the disc, could it just be cleaned off ? I have to do that myself every once in a while with mine, if they happen to skip or lock up, and I always keep them stored in their protective covers when not in use....
