Is it possible to mod audio files (rsm files)
« on: September 05, 2023, 09:29:05 PM »
Hi, first of all great community, I'm new to it but so far it seems nice.
I'm trying to replace some of the audio files inside the bin archives in
Code: [Select]
audio\PLAYLIST folder. I don't have any problem in extracting and importing rsm files to the archive itself or exporting audio from rsm files (I know rsm contain two other file one xsb and the other xwb and I can convert xwb to wav with some tools).
My problem is I don't know how to recreate a rsm file with my modified audio...
anyone have any experience in this field? is it even possible?

Yes, it's possible. Technically.
No one knows how to do that yet, though.

Yeah seems like no one ever tried to work on audio seriously...
That's sad because being able to customize audio can be a very big step in modding of the game...
I managed to gather some information about game audio system, things like the exact xna version that the game used and even a simple tool to export and rebuild audio archives.
If anyone is interested we can start work on it together...
Any slightest information and things that maybe someone know can help as well...

Good news guys
I finally managed to change in-game sounds!
I think we even can add new sounds to the game now!

Then you might be (to my knowledge) the first one to figure that out!
Can you share an update on your progress and how you did it?

Yeah, I can export and modify audio files from PC version without any problem.
PS2 is also mostly possible I have to just figure out how to create rstm audio files for PS2.
I've been working on android/iOS as well, and I'm mostly done with it (there is some problems with these platforms that I still need to figure out though).
I'm planning to share the tools that I've been working on when its a little more complete.
