Things You Would Of Changed In Bully

So, here is the 'Thought Provoking' Topic I promised I'd make yesterday....

Basically, explain what YOU'D do when it comes to changing around Bully. Wether it be, changing the story-lines in the game, character development, fixing up the plot-holes with logic by changing around the story that would suit better in YOUR eyes. (Logic is something Bully casually disregards in multiple aspects of the game) or how'd you change how Gary's rise to power or something along those lines, how you'd change up the story line so it'd be much better than original, and stuff along those lines. YOU GET THE POINT.

Hoo-Boy....Where to start ?  There's soooo much in the game that could stand fixing.

I'll start off with one glaring oversight.....You know how during the day if you get busted (8 am - 7 pm), every third time Jimmy winds up in Crabblesnitch's Office and is sent off to do Lawn Mowing (Snow Shoveling during Ch. 3) at the Football Field ?  But get busted by the Cops, nothing happens, which is totally unreal.  So why not, every third time of being Cop busted Jimmy has to go to Court in a cutscene where a Judge would sentence him to go Lawn Mow at say, the whole grassy area of Vale Gardens Park ? (Or Snow Shovel the In & Out Parking Lot in Ch. 3 ?).......

Aside from the unfriedlyness to the pasta, the game itself could use alot changes.

1. Better social system. A thumbs up and thumbs down button isn't much for a conversation.
Here's what I would have done:

* Thumbs up
- Sports
- Games
- Gossip
- Cars

* Thumbs down
- Insult
- Threaten
- Impersonate
- Tattle

At first, you aim at the character as normal and have the options for a positive or negative conversation.
If you press thumbs up, you can choose further with the LEFT,RIGHT,UP and DOWN arrows. So that you can sorta go after what the clique likes.

For example:

1. Aiming at Algernon
2. Thumbs up, Sports
3. Algernon goes quiet for a while
4. Thumbs up, Cars
5. "Whatever Loser", Algernon walks away


Exampe 2:

1. Aiming at Trent
2. Thumbs up, Gossip
3. "Totally!", Trent gets happier
4. Thumbs up, Sports
5. "I guess.", Trent goes neutral.

See, you would have to go after what the clique or character likes.
As well as with adults.




Maybe have this for adults:

* Thumbs up
- Work
- School
- News
- Law

And so on.
It would make the game AMAZING.

All that I can think of for now is a longer winter and more holidays.  Oh, and a much harder final boss battle.  Have Gary mutate into a Tyrant or something.

I'm not going to say anything about the story because, well, where to start?

But technically, a thing I would VASTLY improve is the fighting system of the game.

I'm afraid I don't have an essay on the topic though I will say the storyline isn't THAT bad. The skeleton works well enough it's just how it actually forms up isn't so good.

The main thing I'd change is to make it more open ended. The respect system being on rails and the fact there is this great environment with deep characters out there and Jimmy gets to interact with practically none of it.

Choices that have significance on the missions that play out, being able to actually be apart of the clique system should the player so choose (these two ideas are connected). Allowing a player to achieve things through other means aside brute force. That should still be somewhat the focus but not mostly the only thing you can interact with.

The main reason I (and I think most of us) like Bully is because of the deep world it presents us with and how we can keep finding out about it well after the game is over. The unfortunate thing is the game itself is so short, it's like you are looking into the world through a window.

I agree.  GTA games, for example, are great for giving you a lot to look at and new places to explore but after a while it begins to grow tiresome because there is little to no depth in most of it, its just pretty backgrounds.  Bully's scope was smaller but the depth of its characters and locales were amazing.  Too bad you can't interact with more of it.  :/

Yeah....Going to school every day + weekends really sucks. 

But seeing how no one know what day it is (except Halloween), those kids are probably too dumb to realize it.

But then if there was a calendar you'd question why all the same kids were still in high school after 10 years have gone by. Maybe if they didn't specify a year it wouldn't matter.

I'd make it where you could make a run for it during lawn mowing. Also where you could escape if a prefect/cop grabbed you on red wanted meter, but it would be more difficult than escaping from yellow or orange. Also I'd take out the very few post-1980s things so the universe could be a perfectly 1980s world, as it 98% is now.
