Script Mods On Xbox 360 Version???
« on: March 30, 2013, 12:13:07 AM »
I tried Loading Some script mods on the 360 version of the game like the car spawner v2 when I go over to the arcade game and play it the loading screens just loop but I did manage to get the game to load with the mod. Is it even possible to get scripts to load on the console version of the game??

It is possible...but requires a lot of work to get them working due to the differences between the console versions of bully vs the pc version. While I have modded the console version (ps2) of bully, I will not provide any support for the consoles since the pc version is enough to deal with as it is. I will let someone else handle modding support for the consoles  since that is just too much work with very little reward imo and just not something I will bother with.

No problem.

The differences I spoke of are not in the file structure as it is...but in the game engines and as such that is one main difference. The other difference is some of the file formats are slightly different from the pc version which also includes model id numbers which are very different then the pc version....like the vehicle model ids or weapons/props...peds...etc, I think you may get the idea.

One of the other modders here tried using my v2 vehicle spawner with the ps2 version of bully if I remember correct and while the mod DID work....it didnt work very well due to the model id numbers not matching up correctly...which means to mod the console versions....you will need to do a bit of homework and investigating of the files to figure out the model id numbers and some other minor things....once those are figured out then I don't see why mods can't be created for the console versions.

Keep in mind...that if modders want to start modding the console versions....not only will we need to branch things off to their own forum....but the modders should be prepared to burn a lot of coasters while trying mods out unless they have emulators with which to test mods out with without wasting blank discs just to try modding a file or two.

I will however state that the xbox 360 version is the closest console version to the pc version and there is a high probability that pc mods will work quite well without much work on that specific version...but since I do not own a xbox 360 nor will I ever get one.....I can't help out too much with that.

All I can do is provide technical reference from the pc version.

Hope that helps  8)

Wouldn't this get you banned of Xbox Live?

It can't as far as I am aware since you  can only get banned on xbox live for cheating on multi-player games online via the xbox live service....but bully has no true multi-player aside from side by side two player mode on some missions....but I don't know the full scope of that part of the game since I have not tested that out yet.

I do however know that the code for that is still intact on the pc version and all you need is a second controller plugged in and the script in question keyed to recognise both controllers....easy enough to do that.

I'm sure that modding any Xbox LIVE game, online or offline is a bannable offence.

Then again, I've saw a few threads on the internet where people used mods on GTA IV and Black Ops Zombies offline, never got banned, until they got an achievement.

Plus, I think older games that aren't moderated, such as GTA IV and Call of Duty: World at War are more prone to mods than modern day games.

Aye

That is most likely true.

Since I only used xbox live for two weeks in the very beginning when the first xbox came out....I never bothered to use it again since I was banned for life due to a friend of mine using some cheats/exploits on halo since I had the game at the time and he was over to spend the night......I was too busy on my pc to bother keeping an eye on him and about a week later when I went to play online.....was instantly banned.

Coulda really cared less on that point since when I do any multiplayer its with pc rather then a console....just my preference since I am old school on games.

Then why did you even post in this thread to begin with?
If you want anyone to mentor you, spamming random old threads is NOT the way.
Check out our tutorials sections and get yourself familiar with how modding is done.

Any questions, post them in the Questions-section.
Best of luck. *Locking the thread*
