Bully's GTA References
« on: September 03, 2011, 02:48:55 PM »
I don't know how many people know this but, while I was playing Bully earlier I noticed a LOT of references to GTA. GTA also has some references to Bully.
Gold Suit Jimmy obtains is also a outfit Toni Cipriani gets after completing GTA Liberty City Stories.
The myths are also the same too, more or less, which I think may be a easter egg towards the myths of GTA San Andreas.
Werewolf=Bigfoot
Ghost Girl=Ghost Town Figure/CJ's mom.
Aliens=Aliens
House in Blue Skies=Leatherface.
In Auqaberry, there are some items of clothing called "LS" even though this stands for Luxury Stud, in GTA San Andreas CJ references Los Santos as LS numerous times EG. "We could use a place like that to set up into LS again".
Ricky, the greaser, bears a bit of a resemblance to Claude, of GTA III.
The HUD of Bully and GTA IV are almost the same, with the weapon and radar sawpping places, In Bully the weapons are in the bottom Left corner in GTA IV, the weapons are in the top right corner.
Complete Mayhem bares a lot of resemblence to "End of the Line" in GTA San Andreas, with CJ having to get to Big Smoke, through his army, while LS is in a riot, Jimmy has to get to Gary, through his "army" and the school is in a riot.
In GTA LCS, there is some graffiti that says "BULLY BOYZ" which people think it may be a reference to Bully.
The gangs of Bully also have a little simmalarity to the gangs of previous GTA's. Preps and Greasers rivalary is like the rivallary of the Grove and Ballas with the 2 attacking on sight, or it could be l;ike the Leone's and Forelli rivalaries.
In GTA Vice City, there is a mission where you have to steal a police uniform with Lance Vance to sneak into a mall and blow it up, in Bully there is a mission where you must steal a Orderly outfit to sneak past the orderlies and rescue Johnny, while causing chaos with the inmates at the asylum.
In GTA IV, Bullworth Academy appears on a TV show.
The weapons are just a toned down version of the weapons of GTA.
Super Slingshot=Sniper Rifle
Slingshot=Rifle
Stink Bombs= Tear Gas
Fire Crackers=Grenades
Bottle Rocket=Rocket Launcher

So tell me if you have notcied any references to GTA in Bully, or vice versa.

To be honest, half of those aren't references at all. Just all fanmade conjunctions, or simple coincidences. I don't mean to sound rude, but it's true.

The only real references/easter eggs or hints of GTA being in the same universe as Bully are the vehicles, Bullworth Academy in GTA IV TV, San Andreas clothing in Bully, and probably many more.

Yeah, seriously, 90% of this is all stretches and wishful thinking.

I have to agree with them, at best maybe half of them are either true or worth considering. The other stuff is either a coincidence or just nonsense.

GTA SA. I'm not sure if it was used in any of the others though. I don't remember being able to use it in VC or GTA 3.

There is some teat gas in downtown LS, it's on the steps of this building that looks like a courthouse or something.

I don't remember if there is a cheat for it, but I doubt it. The place I mentioned is sort of on the north side of downtown, sort of near the interchange.

You can find tear gas in the ship from the mission where you have to steal the hydra and use it to destroy things. It's in the dock from san fierro.

Here's all the places you can obtain Tear Gas in a GTA game. Got the information off grandtheftwiki.com, which for a wiki site is surprisingly accurate.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

* Washington Beach - Behind the Washington Beach Police Station (original PS2 version only - grenade in other versions)

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

*Mulholland Intersection, Los Santos - On the steps of the building west of the car park and north of the ZIP store in Downtown Los Santos

*Ocean Docks, Los Santos - Beside some crates and boxes in a warehouse being passed by a railway

*Easter Basin, San Fierro - Inside the aircraft carrier at Easter Basin Naval Station

*K.A.C.C. Military Fuels, Las Venturas - On the tarmac

*Las Venturas Airport, Las Venturas - Beside some Shamal's and the yellow and white "ramps", to the left of the traffic control tower.

-

As for References to GTA games in Bully.

* Bullworth Academy is shown briefly durning the in game TV show "I'm Rich" in GTA IV.

* Also in GTA IV, during the opening cut scene for the missions 'Blow Your Cover' for Elizabeta Torres, a character that bears a striking resemblance to Jimmy Hopkins can be seen dancing in the background.

*The LS Training Jacket, obtainable from Aquaberry, is similar to the LSD Jacket in GTA IV. LS is also the initials of Los Santos, a big city in GTA: San Andreas, though in-game LS is stated to stand for "Luxury Stud".

*Many cars from the GTA series make an appearance, namely the Diablo Stallion, Regina, Forklift, Yankee, Boxville, Washington, and the police version of the Rancher. Manhunt shares this same concept, in fact many of these same cars can be seen in the original Manhunt and it's sequel. All three game franchises (GTA/Bully/Manhunt) take place in the same fictional universe, so this is not simply a coincidence.

Pretty much anything other then these would either be wishful thinking or baseless parallels. Although, it is pretty easy to see why such assumptions would be made. Seeing as Bully and GTA are very similar in there style of gameplay, it's just the manner in which the stories are portrayed is different.
