Once, I tripped over my dog and my laptop (at the time) flew out of my hands. The battery popped out. I was so afraid to attempt turning it on.

Believe it or not, it still worked.

Some electronics have a bit more durability when it comes to abnormal abuse. They're a bit more $$$$ due to being designed in such a way. Some of these electronics can be dropped from the third floor of a building and still make it to work. Some laptops do hold that durability.

I'm not surprised that it still works, afterall, it was only the battery that popped out.

But the fall could have loosened connectors internally.

True, but I've dropped all sorts of high tech things and never had a problem.

One thing I fear of dropping is my I-Pod.

Those things are quite delicate.

One of the more funny cases I saw is when someone dropped their phone in a cup of beer and didn't even know it.  The phone was drenched with beer. They had to dry it out.

I dropped my old phone like it was going out of style. Eventually the display attachment loosened and I had to get a new one.
