Maybe. But you would have to be pretty good with computers. Mercury seems to be really good with computers.

No... In the files, there is a FLAT image of the firecracker called the texture. By applying it on a cylinder, you obtain the object ! Get it ? It's like putting a paper with the name of the vegetable and the price (the texture) on a tin (the cylinder).

It makes sense to me.  That's how most video games are made.

The more I read it, the more sense it makes. But if you can't take a picture of the image, how would you be able to copy it onto that cylinder? And where did you get those pics?

He could have easily made those diagrams in paint or sketchup.

Paint is just an accesory program that already comes on Windows computers, and I think sketchup is from google or something.

Let's say you want to create a ball made out of leather. (Very original, isn't it ?).

1. Create a ball in a 3D program.
Note : the ball appears grey because there isn't any texture on it.
2. Take an image of leather and "stick" it on the ball.
Note : This image is called texture.

Without any texture, everything would look grey. If you have Vice City, inside you'll find the texture of Tommy Vercetti. His face looks flat, and so are all his clothes. In fact, by sticking this image on the 3D body, you'll  have your Vercetti !

To illustrate, here are some images. The first one shows where the textures are going to be sticked. The second one is the texture itself, and the third shows Tommy in-game, for you to see where which texture was applied.

OK...Understand the process....

All I want is the Image.....Given that, I can change the parameters, if the texture has too much of a streched look....
