Big Darrell was just an out-and-out nasty turd.  He deserved what he got, and then some.  I shoulda killed killed him, but didn't want to make Zoe a murderer.
Algie, I always had mixed feelings for that weenie.  Perfect kid to kick in the balls, shoot with the Spud Gun.  Disgusting he can't hold his bladder,  There had to be a way he could stand up for himself, show his revenge on his tormentors.  But it took getting his nut blown off to make him man-up for revenge.  To show just how crafty he could be, how precise he could carry out his one-boy attack against every Clique, even his own.  And to still be nerdy and dumb enough not to realize who had really been responsible for having maimed him.

Actually,by the time I was reading Darrell's part,I always imagined him as Beta Russell..

Big Darrell was made up specifically at first for the rape scene on Zoe, and was not a model of anybody, really.
I just needed a character that Zoe was unable to physically beat, who was able to overpower her and do what he wanted.
Since Zoe herself was a Townie, she was portrayed as being equal to the other Townies, well able to fend off any advances by them.  Also, she was never portrayed as being the GF of Edgar or any other Townie (similar to Beatrice not being the GF of Ernest). 
Big Darrell's presence comes at turbulent times for the Townies, since he murdered Edgar with no witnesses left alive but Jimmy, and takes charge of the Townies due to just brute strength alone.  Then it is assumed he starts hitting on Zoe, culminating with the rape scene.
Over the Summer and Fall, Darrell leads to Townies to deeper law-breaking behavior, and sets the stage for them to later commit more serious crimes, such as the School Invasion with Jake, and the Kidnapping and subsequent rapes of Karen and Melody even later on.  Big Darrell is later revealed to have been one of the Punks, who was cut loose by Sid for being too erratic and psychotic.

i still have a few pages to read but i feel bad for clint i know he would have raped karen and melody but the thing is he didn't and as a reader it makes you think he doesn't deserve to be fucked over but what do i know i still haven't read the rest of the story

Clint Henry has one more small role to play on the final page. 
The most psychotic of all the Townies, Clint is getting off easy, being in Happy Volts while the rest are going to Prison.

ANNOUNCEMENT --- The long-promised Re-Writes, Edits, & Additions have been added to Chapter 1 of the NES. 

These will greatly smooth out the continuity of this early part of Tony's early days at Bullworth, and provide for easier reading.
An additional 9000 words were added in the process.  Work on Chapter 2 will commence soon.

Ok. forgot to post this -- The Re-Writes, Edits, & Additions have been added to Chapter 2 of the NES.
About 4000 words were added in the process.  I finished them last weekend. 
Currently working on Chapter 3, which I hope will go faster.

Funny thing is I'm actually reading the story as I go along now.  Some things I even forgot about.
