Bully: Undead Nightmare?
« on: August 13, 2020, 12:13:26 PM »
I've been thinking for a while... what if they added DLC to Bully like they did with GTA IV? I pondered what it would even be about, and got to thinking about the Undead Nightmare DLC for Red Dead Redemption. Would it be appropriate for a T rated game? Would it fit into the Bully universe? How would Jimmy even react to a zombie outbreak?  :hmm:

It's questionable, but a HUGE amount of other titles were on the zombie train as well. It was hard to make anything with zombies and attract attention, even now.

Only true horror games can gain an audience with that type of content now because it was drained of any value.

In a cartoon violence way, probably. Zombies Ate My Neighbors exists (and is rated Everyone, IIRC) and you have two teenagers going around using water guns and other weird weapons on zombies + other horror-movie monsters.

I imagine however, the gameplay for Bully would be the same. Hand to hand combat might be axed in favor of using the weapons the game already has (slingshot, spun gun, baseball bats). It would basically be like chapter 6 where everyone hates you and rushes at you from 50 feet away. I can maybe see it as a mini-game. The best I can come up with is a sorta holdout thing where clones of students/adults come at you and after a few waves you win.

And honestly, no thank you. I can beat everyone up just fine without them being zombies. Zombies are lame anyway.

Honestly, I would love Bully to be as it is. Zombies, in my opinion, is pretty overdone a lot, I feel like it would ruin the magic that Bully had.

Especially during the ps2-ps3 generations. Zombies were this HUGE wagon every developer had the urge of hopping on. It drained and killed the real value in horror.

Zombies only work well when you build the entire story/game around that concept. To just interject zombies into a game that has nothing to do with them at all makes it feel out of place.

That's true. It's same with overused jumpscares. Happens in every minute. They're not scary and predictable. It doesn't give the sense of fear but more like it'll make you anxious because you know that it will come back again.

Jump scares or QTEs are these things that get to be more annoying than anything else. Fear usually comes from knowing that whatever you face is a threat. If not a threat, then why fear it?

It reminds me of the old days on PC when people would try to prank you with "screamers". Just a freaky image with super loud audio. Gets annoying.

Those were good ol' days. People used to scare the shit out of me with Jeff the killer loud screeching sound gif. I used to find it scary but then it became really annoying afterwards.

I would have liked if some of the existing elements of Bully were more polished.

~ The stealth animation was sort of poor and not used a whole lot. I would have liked if there was the ability to use that stealth and sneak out at night without the need of going to bed all the time.

~ The holidays like halloween, could have been far more fun if pranks were expanded upon with some creative ideas. Eggs and dog crap in a bag is known as pretty "common".

Never thought about it until you mentioned it. I totally agree! Would be cool.
