There are 3 nice tutorials you can refer to.
SWEGTA's tutorial, the easiest and fastest, but will only cover basics.
c00ld0c's tutorial, still quite doable but it will require some more reading. Will teach you a good amount of things to get you started.
Or,
my tutorial. My tutorial probably requires the most reading, and I've been told it's harder... but it goes over more advanced things, and if you can read and understand everything in it you'll be a great LUA modder.
If you go through all 3 tutorials (in order because I listed from easiest-hardest and simplest-most advanced) then that'd probably help to, if you have the patience.
Also it will help to get some modding friends, I suggest getting xfire because a lot of modders use that. I am daboss54320 on both xfire and skype if you want to add me, I can help you with LUA as well.
