Video Stories / Re: The Weirdest Bully Glitch I Have Encountered
« on: January 01, 2017, 07:14:59 PM »
Weird. The bullying animations seems to have taken a while to load, and then it only occurred to Melvin. I have seen this a few times, but the way his free roam behavior glitches and he becomes untouchable is new to me.

BIg bump, but is it available yet?

Auditory Experiences / Re: Beta punch visual effect unwittingly left?
« on: September 18, 2016, 02:22:35 PM »
If you throw something like a brick, the effect appears.
I think this attack has the flashes.

You're right, I just went to check and the brick really does have a similar effect, although it's yellow. Makes sense because I always thought there was something weird about hitting someone with it.

Now that I think about, some weapons do have this effect occur upon hit, like the spud gun. However, I think the side slam reversal is still the only physical attack that has it, and the gut punches when grappled don't. The beta image you posted may be further indication that it was once present everywhere, but they decided to leave it only to weapons and said attack is the only reminiscent most likely because they forgot about it.

What other attacks use this effect? I've been playing this game for 9 years, both the PS2 and PC version, and never saw it appearing anywhere, not even from NPCs. I only ever saw it occur when you reverse the side slam.

Auditory Experiences / Beta punch visual effect unwittingly left?

I've made a finding that may indicate that, at some point during development, the punches may have had those visual flashes you see in comics and action/fighting games.

When you reverse Juri's/Luis' side slam, Jimmy punches them twice in the head. I noticed before that there appeared to be a white flash from the punch, and I finally got a full view of it when I saw Gord doing it to Juri.

My theory is that this is a leftover from the beta version. I believe that these flashes appeared from every attack, but Rockstar decided to remove them to keep the game more realistic. However, they forgot the effect from the side slam reversal because it's a seldom used animation and they overlooked it.

What do you think?

Bully 1 Discussion / Re: Speculations of Bully's time setting
« on: February 16, 2016, 08:45:11 AM »
Really, was there ever any doubt that Bully is set in the same year it was released?

Anyway, about the points you made:

-The vehicles

Bullworth is a very small town, and appears to be pretty isolated. To quote Officer Williams after he loses sight of Jimmy "You know this a really small town!" And in case you have never been to one, old cars are very common in places like this. I've been in a small town last year and there were cars from the 70s and 80s everywhere, I could almost feel like I have travelled in time. There were some cars from the 90s as well, but modern cars were a rare sight. And there's barely any cars in the game, two of then look old, so what? What's so odd about having one person or another owning an older car? Even so, what about the Sedan and the "Limo" (parked in Tad's yard in the PS2 version, retardedly replaced by a Taxi in Scholarship Edition)? They have the style of cars from the late 90s and early to mid 2000s.

-The 1976 team poster and the cameras.

It's probably paying homage to that team in specific because it was remarkably good, or it was the champion of some tournament, it was the last time the Bullhorns won anything or whatever. Regardless of the reasons, it doesn't mean that it's a new poster. I see posters of teams from 1979, 1989, 1994 and so on and so forth hanging on walls everywhere. You can also see that the picture is really old due to all the sepia. Jimmy himself earns a digital camera after completing art classes, which takes pictures with a quality infinitely superior to that one. Why would they use a crappy old camera to take that picture when there were ones like Jimmy's around? Also, the simple fact that Jimmy has that camera is evidence enough that the game is sent in modern times. If I'm not mistaken, cameras like that were only developed in the 90s and even then, they were seldom found. The fact that that poster is still on the wall is probably a reminder of a team that made history or just one of the many ways Rockstar shows how poorly kept the boy's dorm is. The fact that she gave a black and white camera as a "cheap" one was probably due to simple game mechanics. What good would it be having a camera with bad quality in the game? And even in real life that would not be that weird. It was given by Miss Philips, who works with art. She probably still owned that camera from somewhere, it didn't have much value to her, so she just gave it away to a student. And it's better to give a black and white camera that has good quality than giving a shitty one with colours. This second one would completely kill the purpose of her class, which is to take good pictures.

And with the pictures of the slim notebooks and computers that have been already posted, I'll rest my case. I never understood why was there ever any doubt about Bully's time setting.

I believe it was composed solely for this video, although it sounds oddly familiar.

Bully 1 Discussion / Random subtitle appearing?
« on: January 25, 2016, 08:56:14 PM »
Anyone else had subtitles appearing randomly for dialogue that is not scripted and said during free roam?

Today I was just enjoying watching Russell facing the preps until he said "Slow down so Russell can smash you!", and it appeared on a subtitle. I was caught off guard and it disappeared before I could get a screencap, but I swear I saw it. It wasn't a mission, I was playing on a 100% save file.

I also remember seeing this happening a long time ago on the PS2. I was on Chapter 2 and returning to the boys dorm at night from a mission that involved pissing off the preps (I believe it was "The Eggs"), but on free roam. Then I run into Gord, who attacked since my prep respect was low, and his attack line appeared on subtitles (I think it was "you're going back to the poor house"). I was surprised, believing it was a scripted attack outside a mission, but this never happened again until now, which is like 5 or 6 years later. So this appears to be an extremely rare glitch.

Anyone else had random and unscripted NPC dialogue appearing on subtitles?

A neat little glitch that makes life at Bullworth a lot easier. ;)

Bully 1 Discussion / How to have weather changes during Endless Summer
« on: December 28, 2015, 08:57:04 PM »
I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but after you have completed the main story, the weather, for some reason, is permanently set to sunny. That is, no more cloudy, overcast or moody days, every single day has the bland and completely dull blue sky.

I, for one, took a while to notice this. After a good time of playing the game during Chapter 6 on the PS2, I started to notice that the visuals of the game were now somewhat... lacking. For some reason, the game appeared to be more visually appealing before I have completed it. Then one day I noticed that it was because of the sky. There was no more clouds, no more purple, gray or reddish horizons, and this was somehow taking away part of the fun. Of course, it is irrevelant to the amazing gameplay, but I don't know, having the weather being unpredictable was somehow fun, and made the game prettier. And I've always been somehow fascinated with the sky, even in video games, so this was kind of a bummer to me.

Until one day, I finally figured a way how to fix this and bring back weather changes. It was by a complete accident, I simply decided to do something different and did the Lawn Mowing job. And then, after a short while, the sky appeared to be different. Then I stopped to look at it better, and the clouds were there :D Then the weather kept changing randomly, it even started to rain! The game was perfect again!

So, to bring back the weather changes, just do any Lawn Mowing job. I recommend you to do the one in the house as it's shorter, but the one in the park also works. I'm not sure if doing any other side mission also activates this, I believe it has something to do with the fact that you're doing a mission, so that somehow brings the game back to how it was when it was not "completed"... I don't know how it works, but it's a neat little glitch that I thought I should share. The glitches lastes as long as you continue to play on that saved file, loading the game again sets the weather back to permanently sunny. So, if you want to always have this, you'll have to cut the grass everytime you load your file. An advantage to this it's that you'll always get an extra $40 everytime you play the game. I have got over $13,000 from doing this everytime I play, and this is after I have burned most of my money on every single garment in the game to achive 100% completion, so I believe that's a lot.  :P

Something cool about this is that the possibily of raining is back, meaning you can get the umbrella back! Of course, there's no way to predict when it'll rain, it may happen immediately, in one, two or five days, or it may not happen at all. But at least the possibility is there again.

Not sure if this works in Scholarship Edition, and I also noticed that the sky in that version is always the same thing regardless of weather, with only the colours changing.

Picture with a umbrella and with Zoe, to prove this is during Endless Summer:

Bully 1 Discussion / Re: what you find annoying in bully
« on: March 15, 2014, 10:00:05 AM »
Another very annoying thing is that when you mod the game, the characters glitch and they keep repeating the same line for every situation over and over again until your brain can not take it anymore.

"I'm just toying with you, kid! I'm just toying with you, kid! I'm just toying with you, kid!"

Well, it happens because Johnny was never meant to be seen in free-roam, therefore they recorded an abysmal amount of voice lines for him.

Most of his voice lines are from the greaser missions. For example: he shouts "Eat dirt Jimmy!" whenever he does the axe kick on anyone. (He also says "Hey Kid!" as a greeting line to everyone, including adults)

Same thing happens for all clique leaders. There's a lot of missing audio, which is really noticeable when you conversate with them. (Try pushing them or insulting them)

That is not the case. I have extracted Johnny's audio files, as well as of other character's that weren't meant to appear in free roam, and they still have lines recorded for situations that were never meant to happen to them.

And that has nothing to do with it. You mod one single thing in the game, and the same thing happen to characters that appear on regular free roam. After a while, the game doesn't randomly choses between the lines recorded for every situation, it only picks the first one.

Bully 1 Questions / Re: Who's Your BULLY Girlfriend ?
« on: March 14, 2014, 11:26:47 AM »
Zoe is probably the smartest chick in the game.

She would be my gf, btw, people say she's ugly, but she just needs to take better care of herself, get rid of the glasses and change her freaking hairdo. Same with Angie. The only girl who is truly ugly is Eunice.

But considering the girls as they truly are, I don't know, I think it would be Zoe. She's dull to me, but she's the most dateable girl there. The others may be pretty, but their personalities are just despicable.

Honorable mention to Delilah, the good siamese twin. She's one of the prettiest girls in the game, shame Rockstar made her a freak. If she was normal and a student at Bullworth, she would definitely be my Bully girlfriend.

such a confusing game lool.

having one ped and the other be a accessory.

I think this is because making a 3D model with both of them would be very complicated. It was easier to make the second twin a separate part.

I heard of a glitch in the PS2 version that causes Gary to sometimes appear in the School and in Blue Skies, but in all my years of playing the PS2 version, I never saw this glitch occur.

From bully wikia:

In Bully, Gary could be seen occasionally on campus or at Blue Skies Industrial Park. This glitch was fixed in later copies of the original game (Greatest Hits) and the enhanced Scholarship Edition.

Maybe you don't have one of the older copies of the game.

Yes, I have read that, and I own the "normal" version of the game.

Didn't Hal also have some lines where he mentions Russell, but this was removed?

I'm almost sure the Russell line is just a mishearing. I could had swear he was saying something around Russell when I was new to the game, which always made me wonder "What does that guy have to do with Russell?" After finding out what he really says ("After I'm done hitting you, I gonna sit on you") and improving my english, I never  "heard" him saying Russell again. I also always thought he was saying "I gonna shit on you".
