Bully 1 Discussion / Re: Bully: a rant
« on: March 28, 2021, 12:07:25 AM »
Cut content is usually because the financial backers (take 2) rush the game to where the devs don't have time to complete it. Everything in gaming is less about quality and more about quantity because the backers want $$$$$$.

Also, the removed fireworks store which I believe would not have hurt to keep in the game.

I was not happy about there being no easy way to access fireworks in the late game. I wish the chemistry station just had more fireworks to build on it.

And then, there is the infamous crash on windows 10. Gotta love rockstar for that because it's been years and they haven't fixed this yet, and probably never will because someone has done the dirty work for them.

Bully was never made for windows 10 because it didn't exist when they made bully, lol. Keep in mind the era this was released. For PC this was the XP/Vista times. Bully was released around 2006 and W7 in 2009.

And finally, we have modding. It's so hard to mod this game.

This is mainly because T2 strongly fights modding and has even filed lawsuits against some modders. These games are always made hard as possible to mod.

When you need to isolate the exe in a directory you might be able to hold down shift and press right click. 'open command prompt here' should be in the list.

Quote
"'luac' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file."

This happens mainly because CMD doesn't know where the exe file is, so it doesn't know what you're trying to call. The 'Windows' folder is a good place to put any command tool.

The 'Windows' and 'System32' folders are built in paths that CMD follows. The Windows folder has all of the commands CMD can run which are compiled exe files.

Bully 1 Discussion / Re: Bully's Offical Website Archived

They got rid of the animations but there is a site. https://www.rockstargames.com/bully/

They had to take down most game sites and rebuild due to flash no longer being supported.

This link is based out of dropbox. Dropbox is a site that has often taken down links if they got too much traffic. I don't recommend using that site if any.

Any mod that is approved is given its own topic.

Places like Mediafire are used often. Github is where a lot of open source code and releases can be found. For a bit of privacy mega is used.

Careful with some sites though. They will shut off your downloads if the traffic is heavy. They will think it's a ddos.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Newbie

It often doesn't come down to the creators and artists but actually who is financially backing them or even owns them. Time is quality and investors don't like time to only watch money burn away. This is why games always get rushed.

Question isn't so much about Rockstar but actually Take-Two, the owning and backing company of Rockstar. They make the decisions if a game will be made at all.

When Red Dead Redemption 2 mods were being made Take2 filed a lawsuit.

Take2 has become somewhat known for doing this any time major mods are being made for new games. If Bully 2 was made there's a strong chance Take2 would silence modding for it.

Unfortunately, Rockstar Games gets dragged into and blamed for these actions when it's not even their decision to make.

Nice seeing people arrive  8). Place has been around for at least 15 years. Activity has dwindled down since then.

If anything, they're looking into using Vice City again. Red Dead Redemption games had a LONG time gap between releases. Manhunt went silent. Bully went silent.

It doesn't help that this cancel culture has become a thing and people are super sensitive about anything they don't like. Makes game devs walk on egg shells.

Bully Modding / Re: Posting photos

You need to have your picture uploaded to a hosting site and put the url between the square brackets of:

["img"]["/img"]

You would need to remove the quote marks for it to work as well. Best to use "Preview" mode to be sure it's working.

Can be quite a while since admins approve mods. Your mod sits in a queue/list until an admin approves it.  I approved this one.

If you notice it taking extremely long, PM an admin. It will at least make them aware of the mod needing approval. The site doesn't notify staff if you submit anything.

Mod Releases / Re: Anti-Prefect
« on: December 18, 2020, 09:30:34 PM »
The .lur files are extracted, modded, added, then the archive is compiled again. Which ones will only be known from the author because Bully files don't change their name.

This was done to either avoid the stealing of mods or to just simplify the use of mods for anyone who doesn't know how to compile archives.

Seeing that this was from 2015, the chance is slim of finding out anything.

The installation directory for Bully should have a folder named "scripts". Scripts.img and Scripts.dir are the 2 files you would be replacing. There's only 2 files anyway, so nothing to search for. The file names need to remain the same.

I would recommend backing up the original files before replacing them otherwise you won't have the default game settings. You will need that if a mod crashes your game.

Requests / Re: Ps2 supermod need help if possible
« on: November 24, 2020, 07:20:49 AM »
Simon said much of what you would run into for issues. Some mods port some don't.

Super mod was not even completed to my knowledge and was still being worked on, so there's a chance that even more content was planned than what exists currently.

The console version doesn't even have some of the added content later ported to pc, so it's technically smaller in size.

Adding too much content will lock up the console, especially a ps2. A ps2 console has basically no memory and is just an improved ps1. Anything prior to the ps3 was mainly just a disc reading device.
