Modding Questions/Help Archives / HUD Editing
« on: July 02, 2013, 10:48:32 AM »
I've been trying to edit the HUD, move around the clock, radar, and weapon wheel. I remember doing this a long time ago and it working. However I've edited HUD_DATA.hdt, HUD_DATJ.hdt, and HUD_DATR.hdt, and nothing has changed in my game. What am I missing?

I decided to make a post to organize all my complete and upcoming mods, as long as it's okay with Red, Swegta, and Madman (I don't mean to cause any clutter, feel free to remove this if it's causing any issues). Upcoming Mods
-At the moment I'm only working on one mod. Actually I haven't even started yet, but it's a very very big mod, bigger and will take much longer than anything I've done in the past. Because of this, it requires lots of planning, which is the stage I'm in right now. I'm redoing most aspects of the game. Changing and editing the HUD, replacing pretty much all weapons and vehicles with new ones. Also I'm changing all cliques to new custom ones, and creating a new main character. Hopefully even a new storyline. I don't want to give away too much as of now, so I won't reveal the new characters, cliques, vehicles, or weapons. I don't mod nearly as much as I used to, so this mod will be something I work on over a long time. Eventually I'll need some help from those of you who know lua.

Mod Showroom Archives / Airplane Mod [WIP]
« on: May 24, 2013, 09:47:02 PM »
This is a sneak peak of a small but cool mod I'm working on. As you probably guessed from the title of the post, it's an airplane. It replaces the gokart. I won't release it yet, because it has one issue, which is that the wheels of the gokart are still on the ground.  As a result it can still crash into things. When I fix that, yes, I will release this. Here are some screenshots of what I have:

Mod Releases / New Models for Bully
« on: February 06, 2013, 10:38:30 PM »
Here are the download links for the new models I imported into Bully (I originally posted screenshots here: http://www.bully-board.com/index.php?topic=17494.0) Putting them into your game is simple, take the nif and nft i give you and delete the original in imgtool (from World.img) and add in the ones I provide for you here. Includes the fireaxe, combat knife, Marksman Combine, golf cart, and ATV. Note that you can't have the golf cart and atv or combat knife and fireaxe ingame at the same time since they replace the same file. Make sure to back up your World.img and Enjoy!

TUTORIALS / TUTORIAL- Importing Custom Models into Bully
« on: January 26, 2013, 06:15:08 PM »
This is a tutorial which shows you how to import custom models into Bully. Remember that this will not work with characters. It can be done with any weapon and some vehicles.I recommend you start with a melee weapon and move on to more complicated replaces. This seems like a lot of steps but it's really pretty simple to do. Reply to this post with any questions. You will need:
Imgtool 2.0
nifskope
A model-must be in obj or 3ds. If not you must convert it, if it is .nif, just export it from nifskope as an obj. (Can be found online, from another game, or made yourself)
Texture for your model
A backup of World.img in case you mess up
1) Open up your World.img in imgtool.
2)Find the model you will be replacing and extract it to somewhere you can easily find it.
3)Open up the original bully model you extracted in nifskope
4) Double click the image of the model on the right, or navigate to Editable Mesh in the block list (left). Either way, Editable mesh should be highlighted in the block list.
5)Click file/import and choose .obj or .3ds based on what format your model is, and choose your model.
6)Now your model will have replaced the original model, but you aren't done yet. Next, under the same NiNode as Editable Mesh, you will see a line that says Txt and has an arrow. If you click on the arrow, you will see the three textures of the model.
7) You only really need to replaced the diffuse (_d) texture, which controls the colors. So rename your texture for the model to match the name of the _d texture in the model. For example if it says yardstick_d.tga in the model, rename your model to say the same.
8 ) Right click the _d texture in the model and select Texture/choose.
9) In the window that pops up, choose your texture which you renamed.
10) Save the .nif model with the same name it started with.
11)You are done with the .nif file, now extract the .nft file of the same model. If you extracted yardstick.nif before, now extract yardstick.nft.
12) Extract the nft to a different folder than the nif to avoid renaming problems.
13) This next part is exactly like editing textures, renamed the nft to nif and open it in nifskope
14)Right click on the first line, and select Texture/choose and select your texture.
15) Now right click the first line again and choose texture/embed.
16) A line named NiPixelData will pop up, right click it, then select Block/Remove
17) File/Save as your file
18) Rename the file back to .nft
19) Now delete both the original .nif and .nft files in Word.img in imgtool
20) In imgtool, go to Commands/Add and select your new .nif and .nft
21) Your done! Try out your game and your model should be replaced with a new one!
If you're having any trouble just reply to this thread, and I will help you out.

Mod Showroom Archives / New Models in Bully
« on: December 06, 2012, 11:31:13 PM »
I was finally able to replace Bully's models with some new ones. For now I have only replaced weapons. I am nearly done with replacing vehicles. ( Got everything but the textures, they work differently) And after that I will work on new characters for Bully! The new weapons I show you here are exported from Fallout New Vegas. Releases and Tutorials, including some smaller edits coming soon, and I may take requests at some point. Check back to this thread occasionally for updates. For now this is what I have:
Fireaxe

Combat Knife

Marksman Carbine Still working on ammo

UPDATE: Successfully replaced the gocart. I replaced the model with a golf cart. Here are some screenshots
Golf Cart

ATV

Airplane
The airplane is still a WIP, and screenshots can be found at this link: http://www.bully-board.com/index.php?topic=18575.0

Bully Modding Archives / FULL Explanation on Bully Textures
« on: August 06, 2012, 06:55:38 PM »
I have edited Bully's textures a lot, and I know the way pretty much everything in Bully's textures work. I thought I would share all this information with the community. This is not a tutorial, but will help people that are having trouble.

So when most people open up a texture in nifskope they see 3 lines, like this.

So if you export the first one, if it is Darby, for example, it will say PRlead_Darby_d.tga
_d means that this is a diffuse map. Diffuse maps control the color of the model, so that is the one that people mainly edit.

But if you export the second line, it will say PRlead_Darby_s.tga
_s means it is a specular map. Specular maps controls the shininess, lighting, highlights and other related things. This isn't so useful or interesting, so we usually do not mess with it.
The third line, if exported will say PRlead_Darby_n.tga

_n means normal map. Normal maps control the bumps and shape of the model. If you look at a normal map you will see it is purple and some parts are elevated higher than others while some parts are lower. A good example of what a normal map does is creases in clothing. Normal maps can be pretty cool and useful to edit.

So that covers each type of map and what it does.

Some characters have the head and skin in a  separate file, so don't think something is wrong if you can't find the clothing. In this instance just edit each map separately. That's not too complicated, but I thought I would include it just in case. Vehicels are also set up in a similar way, with the wheel, window, body in separate files.

This is not all there is to Bully textures but it should cover a good bit. Nifskope is not always the most reliable program, and sometimes you will have a strange setup. One of these is having 9 lines instead of 3. I could go into how to edit textures with that, but its pretty complicated and could double the size of this post. If you do have that or any other problem, conact me and I will help you fix it.
Hope this helps some of you!

Bully Modding Archives / What mods are you working on?
« on: May 21, 2012, 05:48:45 PM »
You can list the mods you are working on in this thread. I'll list mine below.
- Last Man Standing Mod (with MadMan) You might be able to tell what it is, but we will explain later
- Simpsons arcade game and other arcade edits
- Skyrim and Fallout weapons, animations, and peds in Bully
- Some custom characters for people (sorry it's taking so long, got exams and other stuff)
- Pillow fight mod ( A mod me and Mad started a while ago, and will probably be postponed for awhile)
- First person v2 (waiting for scripts to be decompiled, there is a simpler way)
- That's pretty much it, though it will take me awhile to complete all of them, i jump from mod to mod all the time. And when I get new ideas, I leave old ones for later.

Mod Showroom Archives / Prep and Russell (Non-boss) mixed Style
« on: May 06, 2012, 06:04:29 PM »
Mixed style of the prep style P_Striker_A and Russell's non boss style, B_Striker_A. Enjoy
Prep and Russell (Non-boss) Mixed Fighting Style

13
I found out how to change anyone's grapple or strafe, or walk even though i didn't make a video of that.Enjoy!

Bully SE- Preps with Nerd Strafe, Nerds with Prep Strafe, and Jimmy with Prep Style and Nerd Strafe
Bully SE-Hal With Irish Whip Grapple

I found a new way to change a peds (npc) fighting style. It's super simple. The one catch is you can only change a grappler to a different clique style grappler and same for striker. i would have mentioned it in the title, but it couldn't fit. So I will use the example of changing Gord (P_Striker_A) to the greaser style G_Striker_A. Here's the part of Gord's bit of ide that we will edit. STAT_P_STRIKER_A....F_Preps.P_Striker...null....Straf_Prep....../Global/P_Striker_A.Act/Anim/P_Striker_A.act....
So we are trying to change to G_Striker_A. So all you have to do is change the P_Striker_A after the STAT, after the first Global, and after Anim. It will look like this. STAT_G_STRIKER_A....F_Preps.P_Striker...null....Straf_Prep....../Global/G_Striker_A.Act/Anim/G_Striker_A.act....
It's easy. All you are doing is changing one letter three times, it takes less than a minute.
