Bully 1 Questions / Stupid Crazy Damned-Go Kart Races!!! Please Help

Second Walkthrough for Bully, and now I am stuck at the fifth go-kart race...
The rubber-band physics causes enemies to cover huge distances within seconds, and the greasers crashed my gokart around so hard...
Is there some kind of trick for this?!?!
