The Bully Scholarship Edition Player Selector Mod.

This mod was a very long time coming and is a tribute to the great NTAuthority who deserves credit for being the one who originally came up with this mod (his was a scripthook rather then a full blown lua mod like this) and is a testament to over a year of hard work by myself and Rise To Honor in making this mod even possible.

Rise To Honor also was the first to figure out the code that made swapping models possible.

For now we are releasing the demo of this mod that allows only 15 peds to choose from including changing back to Jimmy simply by selecting him.

This post will be updated later on when we release the final version so for now please enjoy.

Awesome mod! I only had a little problem with Algie, if I controlled him then stopped to idle he would continue forward, just slower. Could just be my copy of the game, otherwise it was great! Check out the dog on a bike!

Awesome mod! I only had a little problem with Algie, if I controlled him then stopped to idle he would continue forward, just slower. Could just be my copy of the game, otherwise it was great! Check out the dog on a bike!

That's a glitch in his fighting style or walking style. It has happened to me too.

Actually what I said was I will no longer provide modding support in my mod releases for keyboard users since doing double duty on trying to make seperate control bindings for both keyboard and xbox controllers is just too much bother for me to deal with atm. However keyboard users can use the mods.....how well depends on how they have their controls setup and what buttons are bound on the keyboard to what action as per their settings and preferences.  :biggrin:

Rise and I have worked on this for over a year since both of us have been somewhat obsessed with making this mod a full reality after NTAuthority decided to walk away due to too much begging and pleading for him to rush this out.

Both rise and I have dedicated this mod to NTAuthority because he was teh very first one to change the player model ingame however Rise and I are the first 'team' to do this using lua.

as far as the rest of the mod goes...there are still bugs to solve but Rise is working on some of those while I am doing extra duty not only working to get a final version of this mod out but also get the v3 vehicle spawner out which is almost ready......Should ahve that out tonite and also might have a early beta of the betting mod out too which will work similer to the player model selector and that is if everything goes according to plan.

Wow, you guys are awesome! And I was actually going to download Bully, yet again.

Although, it's been awhile where exactly do I put the two files under again? I'm sorry, like I said it's been awhile and this mod here is just extra motivation to play this once again. :D

I remember coming here to ask about Darby's 6-hit combo and for the first time(and knowing how hard it was to implement that in free roam) Hopefully, we do get to see some sort of that in the final version. Thanks, guys.

just put the two files under the scripts folder where bully is installed at....but dont forget to make backup copies of the original script files first that way you can restore to stock if a problem happens.

^ No, you put it under Bully Scholarship Edition/Scripts, NOT Objects.

And you can use either keyboard or X360 controller.

Yes it does, just open script.img, delete ArcRace1.lur, then add the Machinima's ArcRace1.lur, rebuild archive, then use the arcade machine in the boy's dorm.

it could be because of the way the player selector demo is coded.

Might be some minor glitches....since keep in mind that this is a demo and not a full final release since Rise and I are working to iron out as many bugs as we can. Might take a while before we get a final out.

I think that's because there is already a script running in the game. It's like if you try to use the arcade machine while you are on a mision.

If I remember correctly, they replaced timecycle.lua (or whatever the name was) with a custom script. Timecycle loads automatically when you start the game and it's not a very important file  so they replaced it.

I have been on bully for hours with this, i go round beating people up with their fighting styles, and i have the hardcore mod as well so it makes it even more fun, Thanks guys

It's not the full version...it's a work in progress. Still has a lot of work to be done. But yes, it has way more content than the demo.

There are but not much. But we will have more cuz a lot of people come to learn modding. I am planning m mostly to be active on the board release a new lua mod very soon and after that release a lot of other mods tjat popped up my head when Mad has released lua magazine.  I will also beta test other mods and will provide help in the section/help section after I learn lua from a modder I talked to not a while a go.

Read it through and go to the scripting section of this forum to see some sources I have posted.....

You also need to download the lua compiler which I uploaded in the downloads section and make sure to install the vcc runtimes with the installer I provided with the compiler archive itself.....and then start experimenting.

Just make sure to confine your questions to the proper areas of the forum so people can be on hand to help you....don't hijack other topics asking for help since that takes attention away from the topic's original subject.  8)

I do but I never really mod fighting styles that way.

I just mix them via lua which is far easier.....Rise To Honor and I will at some point in the near future release a howto on how to modify fighting styles this way....but for now it is not quite ready for us to show the community just yet.

Great mod, though noticed the in-game clock doesn't seem to work when I have these files installed. Not sure why that is.

That is because the clock is disabled on the hud with the demo.  8)

The final should have the clock fully working with the hud....though to have a simple work around....go into the school which should give you the clock and then exit and it should stay. It is a bug with how the clock and hud work and I never got around to fully enabling everything as soon as the script is executed.

Well, for me I've already beaten the game. And attended and finished all my classes. So, I actually, don't mind the clock getting stuck. It just means I don't have to go to bed and I can still roam around freely without having to worry about curfew. :jajaja:

It's not that the fact that its "Easy" writing big tables with like 3k or more lines of coding. It's a lot of work dude.

The script is over 80k lines of LUA, thats why it takes to long.

Not sure if you skipped the first page, but they will be releasing a final version of the player selector, soon. I'm sure there is a lot to be done so it's taking them quite sometime, but I'm sure it's definitely worth it.

Friends somebody can make a video about how to make that they were threatened and so on, and yet here is "No, all you need is to make a ArcRace1 script.
Then add the codes to your script.
Then start up the script by playing the machine in the boy's dorm.
Then change to a character with the player selector and it should work.
(Make sure it's through ArcRace1.lur)

Friends somebody can make a video about how to make that they were threatened and so on, and yet here is "No, all you need is to make a ArcRace1 script.
Then add the codes to your script.
Then start up the script by playing the machine in the boy's dorm.
Then change to a character with the player selector and it should work.
(Make sure it's through ArcRace1.lur)

There is a wonderfull button called "modify" to edit your posts. Use it if you want to add questions to a single post instead of flooding the entire thread. It doesn't bother me, but maybe it does to other users.

Speechbms.bms is the file that contains all the speechs, quotes, dialogues of all peds. There are programs that allow to extract all the files.

Speechbms.bms is a bms script that allows extracting through various audio files within Bully SE. Once extracted a certain audio file it will contain all dialogue, soundtrack and ambients as well. There is such programs that allows extracting most of the files within bully.

I am working to integrate this mod fully into bully so that it is always active and available at a moment's notice.

This will keep the original scripting intact and still allow the mod to seamlessly be used.

Isn't the Super Mod 3.0 a variant of Player Selector Mod. Can't they just use that for the time being. Patience is the key to having what you want don't expect everything to come suddenly. The PSF has over 2,000 or more codes of lua not easy to script.

He updated it, and 2 days later I provided what he said. So, it conflicts... Wouldn't it be the common thing to do and ask a question towards that?

Also, I don't know why people are even getting the idea that I want MAdman to push the PSMMod out quickly from simply a question?

Although, he has his problems to deal with, I have not mentioned anything about pushing him or moaning about PSMM not releasing.

I am going to step in here and quell this little argument and explain things a little so you can understand.

Yes I DID come back...but it was way too soon for me to do so as some bad luck came my way.

I have managed however to buy some time and avoid losing the net for now and all that rubbish....but I will NOT be coming back to being an active modder anytime soon since I have to deal with all this crap that has come my way.....

It is just too hard justifying helping everyone here out and modding....when I can't even help myself atm (due to the problems NOT being caused by mom or myself...fully explained in the sad news topic which I plan to update soon)

As to the problems I am dealing with.....90% of what I have dealt with in my life most ppl NEVER have to deal with or are completely ignorant of due to living in a more stable enviroment/household and in reality.....I don't expect anyone to really understand things since you really can't understand it fully unless you have experienced the same things yourself.

The PSMM is basicly in it's final stages and both Rise and Lemon...as well as DaBOSS (I brought him in on helping finish this up since I have to walk away again) and it WILL get released. They are focusing instead atm on fixing every possible flaw or bug this mod has so they can release a literal work of art and a mod that is as close to perfection as you can get with a bully mod. Each of us has contributed a lot to this and sometimes.....waiting can be the hard part for anyone since I myself don't particularly enjoy waiting expecially if it is for something that I want really bad so I can understand why people want this mod to be already released.

I know some of you probably are already thinking this mod is 'vaporware' due to how many times I personally have planned for a release date and then pushed it back.....but this is only because the team wants to release something that is of the best possible quality that can be done so...the wait will be well worth it.

With that said...I would like it if everyone can please get back on topic for this thread since it really serves no purpose derailing it like this and only causes confusion and distraction for other ppl viewing the topic...

Just a FYI....I made a global announcement with the topic being located in the bully modding section as a sticky....PLEASE take the time to read this topic and take it seriously.....I don't want anyone to take it as rude but this is the only way I can think of to get everyone to understand things as they are for me right now and I would appreciate it if this is taken seriously.

Yes, I AM retired from MODDING...but NOT yet retired from BB and will continue to post when I can and try to do my job as an admin so hopefully that won't change.

I know its confusing about how I retired....then came back only to retire almost immediately after....but I just have no choice at the present time so hopefully this is understood by everyone.

Rise and I pushed this mod back a little bit because we are onto something VERY big regarding the .cat archives. We are very close to being able to fully extract those and this will mean being able to fix the endless loop that is in some of the fighting styles. The endless loop is actually caused by the player only having certain attacks being available to actually use....this is due to a 15 button limit on the controller due to this game being a console port. The attack types are: Light, Medium, Heavy, Special. Jimmy only has Light and Heavy attacks available and as a result....its extremely difficult at best to even utilize the other moves.

The PSMM has those missing moves manually bound by button codes in LUA and while it works...it is really not the best way to go about this. This is why Rise and I are for now concentrating on the .cat archives since...IF we can fully extract them...and put files back in...then we can fix these issues and then it will just be a simple matter of assigning a fighting style using one line of code instead of 1000's of lines of code.

Hopefully this makes some sense and i do apologize for the PSMM taking so long to complete....but Rise and I are trying to make sure that once it IS released...that it will be as bug free as possible and be simple for everyone here to enjoy.

If we can fix the .cat archives up...we will release a tool for working with them...since this will also allow customizing the styles by mixing moves from any style into one style...so you will be able to have a hybrid style of whatever moves that is wanted. I just ask that everyone to please be patient while we are working on this alternate plan here...because it never does good to constantly try to rush the ppl doing all of the hard work ...specially when it is for the moment...just two of us working on this...

Ah, I see...

I was hoping for something BIG for a 1 year anniversary since the release of the demo to begin with... I guess this information should suffice... Since, it has been awhile since we heard about this PSF.

Also when we are selected as another player besides jimmy, could you use all of that particular characters voice dialogue.( insults, compliments, etc.)

Speech is one thing we were wanting to do...but I am not sure this can be done since the way the dialog is done....the only feasible way to pull this off will be to directly edit the dialog itself and change teh voice pitch of it so that it would match that of the other characters close enough so when triggered it could be used to emulate a chosen character to play as....otherwise directly triggering the other characters dialog would work.....can be done...but its a big pain in the ass right now to pull off.

Lemon can back this one up since he has done the most experimentation and work out of everyone regarding sounds in bully.

He would be the best one to reply in this topic instead of I....since I have done very little work with that myself.

You been away for awhile so let me fill you in.

- MadmaN is calling it quits with modding for a few reasons [not going to discuss it here]

- The B-T team is disbanding so the Player Selector Mega Mod most likely will not happen.

- Super Mod is going to get an update with alot of new functions going to be added. [no full fighting styles]

Loving the anger there, Modz. As Lemons stated earlier, they've got stuff to do, and the mods team are being wound up. Even if they could carry it on, it'd take a long time to make it function well - e.g., removing any horrendous glitches that these mods sometimes have.

(I was never a member of the team, so I didn't know how to do this sort of thing. I don't know what they did to make the mods better. :P )

@Evann -  Rise to Honor has the source of it. But MadmaN and Rise decided to out the project on hold due to life being in the way. Only thing we can do is respect there decision and support them. In the future it may come back but it all depends  on how is life for MadmaN.

@c00ld0c - Well Red, Rise,Mad, Walter are done with modding. Which leaves a team of DaBoss , Swegta, yourself, and I. It's not dead but... It'd  all we have left.

The team will not disband....since DaBOSS is the one who will be basicly leading it since he is more then capable of carrying on with things.

The PSMM is still being worked on...just not by me since as others have stated...I have a lot of more important things to concentrate on in real life....since unlike the vast majority of the members here....I do not have anyone to fall back on for help with my finances in any way shape or form....and I am well over 18 as well...which a lot of members here are well under that age....and have no real idea just how hard real life actually is.

I am going to find out later hopefully about one thing....which if I can manage to keep things sorta flowing at my end...there is a ray of hope here...just a big one atm...but better then what I had before.....I will probably return to modding again once I can breathe a little easier.....since the community still needs me here to help guide everyone and well...I DO still have a lot of unfinished work that I would prefer to have a way to release in a finished state since I HATE leaving projects unfinished....I have a real problem with that....lol.

As I always say.....I never really give up....I just don't know how to do that....and I never will know....all I know how to do is just keep on pushing my way through every hurdle life throws my way and find some sort of solution to the problem(s) at hand....since in the end....EVERY problem has a SOLUTION!....it is not a matter of IF...but a matter of WHEN on finding it....

As many have noticed on xfire....I have been staying very incommunicado....and will continue to do so for the moment since to be honest.....I have really not been much in the mood to talk with anyone...since for me...there is really nothing to talk about except complain to others about my problems....and truth be told....no-one really wants to hear that anyways....and I don't want to burden every single person with my problems when others here have their own problems to have to worry about in life.

I will continue to drop in here as I can and I WILL keep everyone updated on whether I will stay or go or whatever....since I am not the type to just disappear suddenly and never show back up again....ain't my way of doing things around here.

I would like the team as it currently is to stay together and work together on things....since in the end...teamwork IS important and does allow much much more to be done then just going all lone wolf on everything.

Rise started back up about a week ago on the PSMM after I gave him some very useful information that my R* contact gave me recently...and DaBOSS is also doing a bit of work that will be contributed to this mod plus working on his own mods too. So don't worry....I know that many members by now consider the PSMM to be vaporware....but trust me...it isn't. It is just such a complicated mod that it is just taking more time then most mods to get put out there.

Well....IF and I do stress a very big IF...IF things happen so that I can stay here...at least until xmas...or close enough....then I will do everything I can to make a xmas release of the PSMM happen.

I will state that atm Rise and I have differing opinions on whether to actually release this mod or not...since Rise is of the opinion that BB and the modding community does not deserve this mod and that everyone should figure it out on their own....while I firmly believe that it should be released anyways since I DID promise it would be released...and I absolutely HATE breaking any promise(s) to anyone about anything....

I will however still release several original lua sources that need to be rewritten to be usable in any form...since I no longer have any way to rewrite these scripts due to lack of time...lack of motivation for this....and the fact that the community working together could achieve this faster then I myself can do alone...regardless of my skill or knowledge regarding lua. I also will be releasing some other things too such as every texture for the game in their ORIGINAL .dds format all neatly organized in the original folder structure that rockstar used while creating this game......several beta textures are also included and I will not say which ones since I don't consider that something important enough to shine a spotlight on....and if I get the chance/time...I will explain how to run bully "extracted" in such a way that you can run the game with every single texture extracted to a seperate folder and mod those textures and immediately test your edits ingame without having to build a new .img archive of world.img each time you edit a texture....this will make it easier to test textures out while preparing texture mods for everyone.

I have been using this technique and invented this for bully btw....to create the mega mod which is still very unfinished....that is another mod I wish I could have the time to finish since I have been creating very high def textures in 4000x4000 and 8000x8000 texture sizes for extreme detail and better realism. I actually planned to replace every single texture in the game....with modded ones...but with well over 10,000 seperate texture files...this is a daunting task for anyone to attempt alone....I have only managed to replace atm every texture in the boys dorm and several textures outside like the pavement...grass...trees...etc and the skydome texture which photo realistic textures....only a bare handful of modders here have even seen the early concept of this via live broadcasts I have shared with them.

I support you and i wish i could do more then listen to your problems (im used to it, i do that around school and with other xfire friends, and help them find solutions).
I understand rise tho, we cant keep feeding it too much, doing all the work for it, since then they have nothing to do, we just do all the work.
So we need to think on a solution, until you are back im sure DaBOSS will do a good job, and I will be on his side to help.

@Mad  Well, I understand the fact that we may not deserve the codes, but as long as you don't reveal the Source, and only the mod, than surely we won't be able to get the codes? Confusing? Or am I Crazy?

Aside from that, I feel a Xmas release would be nice, but if it can't be done, I'm sure, I, and everyone here is willing to wait. Since, It will basically be the best mod so far. 

I know I don't mod anymore, I know a lot of people are waiting for this who don't mod. I think we do deserve the mod though, We've all been waiting for a long, long time for this.

I do have the sourcecodes for Player Selector Mod (It may be a bit outdated, since it was given to me around half a year ago).
I strongly disagree with Rise on what the community deserves. I believe in individualism and oppose collective punishment.
There were a few bad apples, but those took off a long time ago. It would also be a good way to drive more traffic to B-B.

And I think that Player Selector will get released at one point, whether we deserve it or not.
It's the best bet if we want modding to move forward.

Modding won't be finished at all, look at GTA IV. It has a trainer that is even more functional then player selector but there are still countless mods released that are very fun and creative.

Also Mad has had the idea of the rest of biblio techa finishing the mod, he wants to do it himself while the net is on but I'm sure he will give the task to the rest of the team if he has to go.

Trainer-wise, yes.
But overall? Not even close. Missions are still being made time and time again where people throw creative ideas into the game.
Fighting a pirate in the basement of the school? Why not?
Beat up a bunch of asylum inmates in Spencer Shipping? It's out there.

People are still very creative with their ideas, which sort of makes me want to take up making missions.
But if you look at in-game trainers, then yeah. Most of it has been done at this point.

Even when/if the mod does come out it's probably only going to entertain you for a week tops... you might as well just delete it if you don't play it anymore.

However, the Mega Mod (http://www.bully-board.com/index.php?topic=21546.0) was revived which is kinda similar to this but just has more. MadmaN decided Super Mod (http://www.bully-board.com/index.php?topic=19663.0) does mostly what Player Selector was going to do so canceled the project. The Mega Mod (http://www.bully-board.com/index.php?topic=21546.0) now will include HD textures for all the textures in the game, and more.
