Come ON dude.....the title asks for a specific answer as to what Gary's relationship is. Are you so thick you can't see that? You should KNOW that any answer might be a spoiler. This from someone who has posted spoilers all over the place?
   Why can't you PM the guy instead of make us read this stuff again and again,whether it's warranted or not??
   You take such pride in finishing the game so quickly....why don't you be a help and a guiding voice instead of these lame statements that don't help anyone.
  We KNOW this is a ''problem'' to some people but it's already been addressed. Maybe provide the link to the rules. To be honest,if someone is stupid enough to not be able to tell when certain answers will be spoilers...they should just not read ANYTHING until they finish the game or need help.

I think Gary needed a stronger dosage.=D
But personally, I think he was quite bored with the school, and then a new kid showed up, who he thought he could manipulate, which would bring something more fun for him.
Or he wanted to see how far he could get with things.
But Idk thats just me.
