Title: Zombie Mod?

I've taken the liberty to color every single item that I wan't to do in a scale from green to red.

Green - I REALLY NEED TO
Yellow - WOULD BE GOOD
Red - NOT REALLY IMPORTANT


Alright, so here is what I wan't to do:

* Make ONLY hobos and/or mental patients spawn.
* Make sure that the so called "zombies" only use the nerd,mental patient or old lady animations.
* Make sure that the hobos (if they will be included) can't hold down Jimmy to the ground.
* Have a few cars lying around (it gives the sensation of chaos).
* Make sure that the "zombies" can't use any weaponry.
* Like I said only "zombies" spawn, that means NO cops, cliques, carnies, adults, prefects, teachers.

This can't be inpossible, can it?

I think there is a way to do this but Im not an experienced modder (this means bully is the first game I have ever modded  :biggrin:)

I don't know if there is an easier (and I mean easier) way to only spawn them but you could change the values 01 00 00 00 to FF FF FF FF to all the peds except the ones you want.


* Make sure that the so called "zombies" only use the nerd,mental patient or old lady animations.

I think the old lady animations would be useless since they can't attack (can them?). I don't know how to make a certain character to have boss/special fighting style (in this case mental patient) since the code is bigger and it would crash the game. The nerd fighting style would be ok.


* Make sure that the hobos (if they will be included) can't hold down Jimmy to the ground.

If you mean busting Jimmy they can't if you change their fighting style.


* Have a few cars lying around (it gives the sensation of chaos).

I don't know.


* Make sure that the "zombies" can't use any weaponry.

The inmates and hobos with their default stats can't spawn with weapons (excluding the beer bottle from the hobos  :P)

1) possible by editing ide.img and trigger.img (canceling out the yyyy's for every skin)

2 + 3) possible by changing the chosen peds/zombies fighting styles
4) changing spawned items on the ground to vehicles in trigger (these can be picked up but disapear) thanks to madman for this find and possibly changing the co-ords for custom locations (havn't tried but i'm sure it will work)
5) I think the pedstats file determins who spawns with what weapon, but this shouldn't be a problem as these peds dont spawn with any weapons anyway
6) same answer as 1 just null all the yyyy's to 00's in hxd and this will stop the skin appearing in free roam.

i'll get to writing up a few tuts soon, just waiting on a friend to finish a job

Yes, but how do I make a ped hate me?
I wan't them to attack like the pirate did.
There has got to be something somewhere.
What if I copy and paste the pirate's hex codes into another ped like a hobo?
Will that person attack for no reason then?

I don't think you could add inflamed cars at this stage, but possibly trashed cars if you edited the .nft files.

The thing that I really need help with is preventing peds from spawning.
I tried doing so in population.dat and it KIND OF worked, but still some neds, preps, bullies, hobos and students will still appear.
For some reason the bridge near the parkinglot spawns people, but I can't find anything that prevents it.
I tried editing hex to block them from spawning, but it ended up breaking my game due to my horrible hex editing skills lol.
But, to summen up: I need to make the hobos/drunks hate Jimmy and prevent any other peds from spawning.
I also wan't to change the player to Nicky Charles (the Worn In shop owner) OR Edgar.

Nah, I think that depends strictly on the faction standing.

Would be really cool if you helped me on making this mod.
I think it's going to be advanced, but the mod istelf is going to be very basic:

*Hobos/drunks attack Jimmy (I've seen that they have a fighting style, but they sometimes will perform citizens arrest, so let's change that into nerds attack or asylum patient).
*No other cliques or types of peds appear (If you wan't we could make the greasers or townies appear, just to back up Jimmy incase there are to many "zombies").
*MAYBE have drivable vehicles? You know, just maybe spawning some gokarts here and there and replacing them with cars?

Check out the vampire and the pirate.
Isn't it easy to change a peds fighting style into that?
I mean, they must have attacking animation and stuff like that, because they appear or halloween, right?  :happy:

Yes, I know.
What I really wan't to use are the hobos, dirty russel, inmate galloway, burton with shit on him and drunks.
I saw that the drunks and hobos have a fighting style.
But, sometimes they make a citizens arrest.
Really strange. Most of the times they will do that, but sometimes they will actually fight Jimmy.
The hobos "attack" is basicly falling on their enemy causing self damage and damage to their target as well.


You should add some costumes on "zombies"
and add some other students to help you out

I'll test the halloween stats, see what I come up with.

I think the only way to get these animations is to reskin the halloween characters, though.

Yeah. Because I think it's the characters themselves that are programmed to act that way.

Notice how Parker walks strangely, but at the same time, doesn't have any unique stats.

Why night? Cause you will get in trouble for curfew.

Welcome to the forum.

Reskinning and reanimating isn't convenient, especially when there's easier methods.

Just reskin several characters that are easy to shape like zombies, and change their faction to an authority figure of some sort.

I think If you change their fighting style but keep their faction then they can't bust you. The problem is that jimmy won't be able to block any of the attacks.

Well I could use some more help.
I need to find out how to make less people appear ingame without editing hex.
I wan't to make the zombies auto-provoced against Jimmy so that they will attack for no reason.

I can explain how to make ppl appear far less just by editing the trigger files as well as a couple other along with that. all of it can be done really without ever touching a hex editor since the only thing you would need hex for is to hard enable or disable a specific ped located in ide.img. That would only apply to certain peds like bosses or main characters that dont normally show in freeroam. Give me a day or two and I should have a very detailed guide up in the proper section to explain what to do. Or as a alternate route I can just pm you what you need. 8)
