You ever notice how in the movies, when the villian has the hero dead-to-rights, and should just shoot him and get it over with, he instead just taunts and gloats (all the while holding a loaded gun or other weapon at the hero's head), and basically pisses around just long enough that he suddenly gets whacked by some late-arriving rescuer ?
I say, screw that....Execute the fucker and be done with it.
