I think he became mad with power and way to full of himself. But, he does end up becoming more humble once he loses all the respect and credibility he had earned so far and is forced to gain it all back.

I was going to reply to this ages ago but decided not to because the answer was too long.

Short answer is no. He becomes an ass due to becoming mad with power but that's different from being a bully. Only time he is really a bully is during chapter 3 when he goes against the Greasers for no real reason other than to 'supposedly' prove he's better than them but chapter 3 was one of the few sketchy/inconsistant parts of the story.

Half and Half I guess, he's basically Bullying the bullys, to gain power and take over the school... though I hate when he's like 'I'm the king!' crap.. sorry if this is old...

I gotta agree with ya, Jimmy's boasting whenever he beats a clique leader is just... ugh.

Whether he becomes a bully or not... I dunno, so I'll go with Chuck's answer.
