Title: B-B Yearbook Discussion
Post by: c00ld0c26 on July 02, 2013, 01:18:02 AM
So...
In Rockstar's Bully site, has a YearBook, I though to myself, what if we make like a YearBook for B-B members?
For example:

Hero Members - Members who deserved to be heros.
Inside there, all Hero members will be listed.
c00ld0c26 -
c00l joined us in ......
loves mostly : Modding
He posts ... a day.
ect...

But since B-B has over 3000 members.
We will only do that with Junior members ranks and up, also only incluide the active ones.
Un active members wont be listed.
I think the sections should be :

Junior Members.
Members
Hero Members
B-B Elite (5000 posts and up I think)
Moderators
Global Admins
Adminastors

Except for that there will be like categories that people can like get.
For example : Funniest member, Badass reputation ect...

Remember I just brought an Idea, If u guys dont wanna make this then I totaly understand.

I was thinking of that idea myself. It would be good. We already have a member list but it's organised by name and shows the status only.

Btw, I think there also should be a seperete section that talks about modding, modders and lua mods and such.
I dont care who does all of this.
If u want I can spend time on this, even though I am not the best orginaizer.

I'm best at organising things, but I can't design for sure. Maybe Madman or Red could do this, they're best at these things.

Well, No, I can't.  I don't even know if that's possible (outside of being a section moderator).

But if MadmaN has the time and wants to make this then I have no problem for him to take over this.

I just mean like he could make a booklet sort of artwork as the BB facebook.
Title: Re: The B-B Yearbook
Post by: Evolution on July 03, 2013, 12:46:00 AM
Due to the fact that MadMan is a pro at the 'Artistic' work scene due to his amazing knowledge in particular PC programs, he's definitely the most fit to make it into a 'Booklet' type thing of BB.

Perhaps he could take some information off of the 'Bully Board Yearbook' to add into his Booklet type thing, as well as his own knowledge. (This is of course, assuming he will even do this, as we're not forcing him to do anything)
Title: Re: The B-B Yearbook
Post by: c00ld0c26 on July 03, 2013, 01:15:15 AM
Well, I will contact him about this.
We will gather all the info in the topic and if he agree's we will send him everything (I will) and he will make a file, with all of these, then I will replace all the info on the B-B Yearbook and put the download link for the file for everyone to see :D

I dont know.
Chuck said that Elite also need to have 10k posts.
Title: Re: B-B Yearbook Discussion
Post by: Evolution on July 03, 2013, 03:53:17 AM
To be honest, I don't think getting 10k will automatically make you an 'Elite,' the members have to like you as a person and or member at the board, a member who loves the board and keeps it alive. Number counts are just 'Outfits' for the real thing, to be quite frank.

Title: Re: B-B Yearbook Discussion
Post by: BloodChuckZ on July 03, 2013, 04:35:01 AM
Ok, let's box me into a corner here.  Some guidelines ?  Ok.

Full Members -- Those with 100-999 posts.

Hero Members -- Those with 1000-4999 posts.

Life Members -- Those with 5000-9999 Posts

Elite Members -- Those with 10,000 posts or more OR those that have contributed Substantial Content to the board regardless of post count.*

Admins and Global Moderators are automatically Elite members.

*Substantial Content means ongoing and original content in the form of Mods, Stories, Videos, or other content judged worthy by the people of Bully Board.

Now, the only question that would arise is just how much ‘Substantial Content’ would apply to be considered ‘Elite’.   We don’t want to set the bar too low, or that designation will be meaningless.  I would think that those with ongoing projects would qualify, depending on the time and difficulty involved in making, recording, writing, scripting, modding, etc. those projects.  Again, I think this should be decided by the people of Bully Board.

And, yes, I will sticky this discussion.

Title: Re: B-B Yearbook Discussion
Post by: BloodChuckZ on July 06, 2013, 12:22:20 PM
I foresee some problems.

First, most posts in forums, emails, etc. have a character limit.  My experience, is it generally 60,000 characters (that includes spaces). If, and when you reach that limit, you won't be able to add any more.

Second, I feel that all the posted information after the first post should be deleted once it's added to the first post.  In other words, no chit-chat, etc.  That's what this thread is for.

Solution -- I will delete everything after the first post, and move the bottom half (the part where it explains what information to put in) and make that the second post.  This way, if we do hit a limit, we can do other options (such as splitting up the categories into separate posts), and it will be a lot easier to control.

Title: Re: B-B Yearbook Discussion
Post by: BloodChuckZ on July 07, 2013, 02:42:59 AM
OK, done.  Let's see if this works out allright.

No chit-chat posts allowed on the actual Yearbook thread, only information posts (which will be removed once they are added to the top).
I've made it a 'Copy & Paste' option to make it easier for the poster, at the second post on the thread, which will stay permanent.  So, except for any information posts that are added (which will be removed once the information is added), there will normally be only 2 posts on that thread.

Unfortuanly, you are under 100 posts, so you cant.
We do that for obvious reasons and its all generaly, and the rule is NOT againts certain members.
By the way, were nearly the time to give MadmaN the list and make a piece of art out of it :P
Please who ever didn't sign, then sign up or you will not be in the art.
MadmaN will make this into a piece of art (If he even remembers that he agreed XD) and it will propebly be posted for everyone to see.

I never forgot about this and will start work tonight on a small portion of an actual printable yearbook design I have had in my mind for a while now.

I figure I may as well try to get this done and out of the way while I DO have the brief chance to at least try and see where this gets me.

I probably will not be able to fully finish it up but I will however set this up so another person can easily take over where I left off and the only thing that is required will be adobe indesign and photoshop if its available to whomever that takes over.

Will be in a similar setup to the modding magazine that I created and be a readable printable pdf document filled with plenty of artwork and so forth.

Just my 2 cents here but....Ranks are completely pointless and have absolutely no real meaning other then to stroke one's own ego.

It is not the amount of what one posts that matters in the end but it is the actual content one posts no matter how much or how little it may be.

Just look at my post count.... I have not even gotten to 2k posts yet but every single post of mine has value and is usable for its content vs posts that are just made in order to up one's count just to "fit in" as it were.

When I first joined BB....I had one thing in mind....and that was simply to make a difference. It was never for any fame or personal glory since those things are meaningless to me. Being able to contribute useful content as well as help the community out and move it into a positive direction is what matters the most in the end to me and I would not be the least bit surprised if the number of people that agree with this statement to be quite high.

We used to have lots of stuff, trophies, awards, Etc.  Even used to have a respect + and - but that caused too many problems.

I'm guessing that people got mad because they had - respect. Or some trophy or award they didn't like at all.

Yeah, that kinda thing.  The Trophies were more of a fun thing, and we had a member who could set it up to code it into our Sigs at the time.

Bully Board is a changing landscape.  Today it is much different than when I joined.

You mean "Badges" ?  (we don't need no stinking batches)<{old American film joke}.....

Anyway, explain in more detail what you mean...(I have an idea that might work).

Sort of like wikia's badget system.
Like post xxxx times get a badget on your profile, use the phase grease-ball a lot get a "Greaser trash talker" or "Greaser hater" badget.
Write more then 500 words post get the "Earnest's history report" badget.
Post a topic at mod releases and get "newbie modder".
Post a lot on the modding section overall get the "helpful modder badget".
Write a lot of posts at the Bully I board get the "Oldschool Bully player" ect...

^Don't get me wrong, c00l. You have a good idea and all, but I think this will make arguments between people on the board, especially new people. We've had enough arguments about the post count which really means nothing. I was the reason for most of these arguments because I was really concerned about post count when I was new here.

If there were badges I would get the "Nosey" badge for checking Who's Online like 50 times.

A better idea would be custom userbars which are basicly mini sigs..and due to their size you can add quite a lot of them to your sig and still not take up a massive amount of room.

I used to make custom ones years ago....still do on occasion and they would actually be perfect for this...heh.

Consider them to be similar to us military ribbon style awards that one wears pinned to their shirt or whatever ....but in this case they can be used for whatever we want.

I can even release a special .psd that ppl can use to make their own userbars easily.

Some years ago, we had little trophies (gold, silver, bronze, platinum)  we put down in the Sig.  Problem was, the links for them, added together, was lengthy, and left little script room for much else in the Sig (132 character max at the time).....This was on the old old board.

Swegta has these little 'Emblems' or 'Badges' he uses on his Bullymods site. Those are set under the Avatar.
I'd like to see the Userbars that Mad's talking about.  I'll bet they would look cool also.  I've seen things like this on other sites too.

There's another site which I'm part of; it uses badges and they work a treat! They have badges for people who have been on the site for a certain amount of time (among other things). In Chuck's case, this would be a 5+ years badge.

Ha, my 5-year tenure is coming up next month.  There's a few here with more time, but they don't post much anymore (if at all).
