Ok. Here is a tutorial on how to edit the pedstats.dat file. I will also show you not only how to edit the pedstats but also to give characters nearly any weapon in Bully.

first off find your pedstats.dat file which is in Rockstar Games\Bully Scholarship Edition\Config\dat.

Load up the file in notepad++ or whatever editor you want. (I will be releasing a editor for editing these files soon)

Once you load it feel free to read thru the comments in the beginning parts of the file. I have laid out a example below which is of jimmy.
Most of the areas are explained really well in the comments in pedstats.dat but I will explain a few edits you can do here. First off is the animation speed. If you change the animation speed to the same value I have set which is about the maximum usable value, you will be able to walk, run, fight faster...in this case very fast. If you set this value too high you will not be able to pick items up or open doors since the animation speed will be too high for the game to keep up with. In this tutorial we will cover just a few things and I will leave the rest for you all to experiment with and have fun with. There are a few areas that should not be changed however since they could mess up the game and I will list those later on.

First off is jimmy's health. Change the Max Health value to whatever number you want. NOTE: if you use trainers for bully, the trainer may not work to give invincibility since it modifies this value from memory.

If you want somthing that works almost like god mode edit the Health regeneration rate and change that to any number higher then 100 or 200. This will allow your health to regenerate automatically.

The Fear, Chicken, Attack Frequency do not work on jimmy.
However you can use those values with the other peds to make them more aggressive and less prone to running away. Use caution editing those with the little kids and girls since this will not only give u the ped in question to deal with in a fight..but also any adult, teacher or prefect nearby when you get a max wanted level.

The Block Frequency and Evade Frequency can be edited for jimmy and the other peds and just tells how often the ped blocks or evades during a fight.

The Animation Speed Factor Changes your animation settings or another ped's animation settings. This is a fun setting to play around with if you want a faster game or if you want to laugh while watching hyper active peds. The warning above about setting this too high applies here.

Bike Projectile Usage setting sets how likely the ped will use projectiles when on a bike to attack. This setting does not apply to jimmy since you can select a projectile to use regardless of this setting.

Damage Scale Changes how much damage you inflict with attacks (I might be wrong on this)

Aggresion Just sets how aggresive the ped is and how likely they are to start a fight. This setting coupled with Criminality Will turn any ped into a bully...literally.

Sprint Meter is how much running stamina the ped has before getting tired and needing to stop and catch their breath. Set this to a very high number and the ped can run without ever getting tired or getting tired easily.

Tenacity Sets how hard to knock down a ped is...this setting works on jimmy.

Now for the part that some ppl probably want. The Weapons.

The Night Weapon and each of the weapon slots require a weapon for the ped to be armed. you can use this with jimmy but it is better to just arm the various peds as you see fit and take a weapon from them when you want a specific weapon.

The weapons list is as follows and is what I have figured out so far. I don't consider this listing complete by any means and if anyone has a weapon to add that does work and is usable..please list it in this thread and I will update this tutorial.

To add weapons to the peds just use one of the model names in this listing above and put that in one of the ped's weapon slots.

I will update the listing when I can figure out more props to use as weapons. I would however like some help figuring out what model name the volcano firecracker is since I for some reason cannot find that and it is a nice thing to use as a weapon of a sorts.

Also, what value indicates how resistant a ped is to grapples, and whether they'll roll off ground hits?

the cherry bomb is the firecrackers jimmy can make with the chemistry set in the dorm...also what the nerds sometimes use as a weapon. they are called cherry bombs far as the model goes in the game scripts.

for being resistant to grapples...that value is AO:    Grap2Reversal (Grapples)

I will fix my tutorial so the entire thing is viewable....just realized the side scroll bar to view it all is at the bottom of the post and that can be a problem...lol

you can view the weapons if you replace one of the boys dorm items, (you can't pick them up) I think you have to do it in trigger, i can't remember, another good tutorial keep it up

I have changed the my pedstats is 999 health and 500 block. Are you sure does not crash my games?

Health is no problem, but block goes only from 0 to 100. It only works on AI. Not the player.

RedBlaster is correct on the blocking as that value only works for ai since the ai has that in its scripting where the player scripting does not have it so unless the player scripting is rewrote...it would not work. I still have to touch my tutorials I have posted so far up a bit to list what does not work for jimmy and what works only for ai.

what model names are you using? Since the model names are very specific when spawning them like that. you also have to make sure that you change the likelyhood of the ped having a weapon to 100.

There are also some weapons/props that do not seem to work...I have not had time to spawn and test every single one that I have listed and there are some more that I have not added to the list above. I will make a excel spreadsheet soon listing what works and what does not if you can wait a few days for that.

Okay, there should be the following: unarmed.None.None.None.(number).unarmed

Change it to this: wtrpipe.None.None.None.100.wtrpipe

It must be changed to 100, because that determines the likelihood of you spawning with a weapon.

If it was set at zero, then that was probably the problem.

Hope this works. Let me know what happens.

Yeah I changed it right before you said that  :D I looked at one where yopu spawn with sledgehammer.

You can play with gary's ween stick, sledgehammer, wtrpipe, lead pipe, shields, snow shovel and that's all I have tried and played with so far. i'l look for more tommorow cuz it's getting late over here.

you can also spawn and hold the bbgun...a remote detonator for which the function I have no idea what its for...must be a beta weapon like the bbgun...and a few others.

@RedBlaster....hehe you are saving me a little bit of work replying and for that I thank you since it seems that you grasped more or less what I was talking about in the tuts.

Lol, no problem. I actually had most of pedstats figured out a long time ago. Right now I just need to test the grapple reversal values, amongst a few other things.

Most of all, I want to know what determines damage. It doesn't seem to be damage scale, because I changed Russell's fighting style from B_Striker_A to P_Striker_B without changing his main stat (STAT_B_RUSSELL_A), and he was doing similar damage to the average Prep (Parker, Justin). It only changes when I return it to its original value, where it does significantly more damage than other B_Striker_A users.

The other weird thing is (IIRC), when non-clique students use, let's say, Jock styles, they do less damage than when Jocks use it.

I need to test this more though.

the damage scale does have a effect on attack damage...try lowering jimmy's damage scale to 10...then try fighting someone and watch their health...see what happens.

Just a FYI for everyone....I may have possibly found a way to prevent weapons like the cricket bats and baseball bats...two by fours...etc from breaking after so many hits....it deals with the hitpoints said weapon has before its destroyed. I will post more on this after I test a few quick things first to make sure I am not barking up the wrong tree.

Ah this. I saw it in another file. It supposedly also includes breakable objects in free roam.

Think you're supposed to change the HP to 30000 or more so that it never breaks. Am I correct on this?

If I remember correctly you are right. Working on somthing hopefully big for everyone just incase ppl wonder why I am so silent as of late. Rest assured that I am working nearly every day with bully modding and both Steman and I have been planning somthing that will hopefully be big....we will keep everyone posted as we get things ironed out.

Just to update this topic seen as it hasn't been posted in for over a month, in regards to the weapons, we have almost finished something which will be able to give/equip jimmy with any item in the game, this will be much better than the pedstats method, allthough good, only a handful will load and the majority of the items either don't load or if its a inventory weapon will result in a crash, this new method of ours has been tried and tested, and we've managed to get roughly 90% of them to load, I'm currently making a short-medium list which will not only tell you what these items are but will include other bits of detailed information as well which will be considerably helpful :jajaja:.

...just to clarify on madmans month old post, we basically have several laundry baskets full of un ironed items, this is whats taking us so long, and he is right, this next release of ours will at least unleash a very useable mod and at worst hopefully create a new style of modding for the community of this board to explore and use.

How do you ensure a ped is always equipped with a melee weapon, but without making his class melee?

I'm trying to get a ped to spawn with Norton's sledge and style, but using generic, since with melee it glitches.

Okay, this is ridiculous...I have Peanut's stat set to Norton's boss stat, and he's supposed to spawn with a sledgehammer (probability of spawning with a weapon is 100%). But the only times he does is when he randomly spawns to have a smoke (and he just drops the sledgehammer and stands there), or when he's being told off by a teacher...in other words, he only spawns with it when it's a scripted event...

How do you ensure a character always spawns with a weapon?

Not exactly.

Norton's boss stat...it's in pedstats (STAT_3_05_NORTON)

But I found a shortcut. I used it on Russell, and now I have no problem finding him in front of the school gates or parking lot armed with the sledgehammer.

Now it's just a matter of getting him to keep attacking. Generic doesn't work either.

I'll fill you in through a PM shortly...let me just try a few things for now.

He uses the normal sweep and downwards slam with the hammer, just like Norton as a boss...I just want to see if I can also get Norton's third attack.

So far no luck...I can't get him to keep attacking, and I also can't get him to use the spinning swing.

Maybe I need Norton's AI, but I don't know.

From what I know, it only affects the projectile damage...could be wrong, though.

If affects both projectile damage and melee weapon damage. It does not affect your punching attacks tho.

All you need is a notepad.

Where is pedstats.dat?

Pedstats.dat will be found at your bully folder like this : C(Or D which driver that you saved your bully fille on)/Bully (Or how ever you called it)/Config/dat/Pedstats.dat

How do I open the fille?

Right click on the fille and put your mouse on the "open with..." option and Notepad will be shown.
If not then add it to there by pressing "Chooce default programm" something like that  , My computer is not set to english so the buttons I say to press wont be 100% the same as I write. Make sure you unbox the little box at the side that says "Use as default programm". after you chooce notepad it will always be at the "open with" option.

I have open the fille what is all of this?  

Okey as you open the fille you will see the following :

I will explain a bit more about each if you dont understand what it says :






#   A:   PedStat type name (must be unique) - The name of the ped, dont change this.

#   B:   Id of pickup def (c. Pickups.dat) - Which Item the ped will drop when knocked out.

#   C:   Likelihood (n/100) of dropping an item - If you put more then 100 it will drop items more often.

#   D:   Vision Yaw (in degrees) - note this is total yaw and not angle from facing direction(which is this value / 2) - I think its there vision rate I aint sure..

#   E:   Vision Range (in metres) - This is the peds vision range in meters if set to 20 the ped can see you or others from 20 meters distance.

#   F:   Max Health (n/100) - How much health the ped will have , Be noticed that this wont work in some missions due to lua scripting.

#   G:   Health regeneration rate - percentage of maximum rate (n/100) - How fast health will regenerate. Works only from 101 (100 is normal that means it dosnt generate health)

#   H:   Fear (n/100) - This one dosnt work on Jimmy only on peds , Baisicly this one changes how oftenly the ped will be afraid of bullies and Jimmy I guess..

#   I:   Chicken (n/100) (chance of tattling/ yelling for help) - Brackets says it all.

#   J:   Attack Frequency (n/100) - Now this one makes changes the chance of a ped to attack on fights , If setted to like 1000 the ped will attack a LOT if setted to like 50 the ped wont attack so much during fights

#   K:   Bike Attack Frequency (n/100) - Same as Attack Frequency but while riding a bike.

#   L:   Projectile Attack Accuracy (n/100) - I think this sets how often the ped will hit the others using projectile for example if setted to 1000 the ped will hit Jimmy a lot of times , when setted to 2 the ped will miss a lot of times. (I may not be 100% right on this one)

#   M:   Projectile Attack Frequency (n/100) - Same as Attack frequency but with projectiles.

#   N:   Block Frequency (n/100) - How often a ped blocks in fights , If setted to 1000 the ped will block a lot of your hits , If set to 0 the ped wont block any of Jimmy's punches.

#   O:   Evade Frequency (n/100) - Same with Block Frequency but how many times he dodges attacks (By dodge I mean the preps dodges from attacks)  

#   P:   "Aggresion (n/100) (how likely are they to initiate a fight, and how likely they are to contnue it)" - Brackets says it all.

#   Q:   Criminality - The higher you set the more bully he becomes.

#   R:   Sprint Meter - This one sets how much the ped can run without getting tired.

#      S:   Character Class - This setting changes the characters class for example Hal is a Grappler which means that if he runs towereds you and attacks he will grapple you and wont punch you like strikers. The only way I know to fully change a peds class is to change its fighting style too.

#   T:   Preferred Combat Zone (0/1/2 = short/medium/long) - Aint sure about this one but It seems to chooce the combat zone of the ped : Short - Close to the enemy. Medium - Medium distance from the enemy. Long - I guess this one is using projectiles like a sniper , They prefer to fight from a distance using weapons.

#   U:   "Preferred Orientation (Bit field: 0001 front, 0010 side, 0100 back. So front+side = 011 = 3, and 111 = 7)" - Dont know... I recommand not to change this

#   V:   Animation Speed factor (100 = 100% speed) - This one is the speed the ped will doanimations the higher the number you set the faster you / the ped will be. Make sure you dont set Jimmy's speed too fast , or you wont be able to lift stuff and open doors.

#   W:   Zone Promote - Dont know.

#   X:   Special Meter - Dont know.

#   Y:   Special Points - Dont know.

#   Z:   Bike Cruise Speed - I guess this is the speed of a ped in free roam while riding their bike normally.

#   AA:   Bike Top Speed - This is the speed of a ped while he rides a bike at full speed I guess.

#   AB:   Bike Wait Speed - Not sure about this one.

#   AC:   Bike Flee Distance - Aint sure...

#   AD:   Bike Catchup Distance - This seems to be the speed of a ped to catchup with the player that tries to run away from them on a bike.

#   AE:   Bike Wait Distance - Not sure...

#   AF:   Bike Projectile Usage (n/100) - How often they will use a projectile on a bike, for example : Eggs.

#   AG:   Damage_Scale - How much damage the ped does to the player / other peds.

#   AH:   Dive probability - Not sure.

#   AI:   "Tenacity (n/100), indicates how tough they are to knock down or off a bike" - Brackets says it all.

#   AJ:   Evasion (n/100) - Not sure.

#   AK:   Bike Flee Speed - Not sure.

#   AL:   Bike Follow Speed - I guess this setting is how fast they follow the player / other peds on bike.

#   AM:   Bike Catchup Speed - How fast they catch up with peds / Player.

#   AN:   Grap1Reversal (Strikes) - The higher you set the faster they will get released from your grapple when using strikes (Grapple Punches and knees)

#   AO:   Grap2Reversal (Grapples) - The higher you set the less they are grapable.

#   AP:   Night weapon - What weapon the ped will spawn with at night.

#   AQ:   "Name of the bike model which the ped can ride (""""None"""" if the ped can't ride any bike)" - All the following 3 are which bike models the ped can ride on

#   AR:   "Name of the bike model which the ped can ride (""""None"""" if the ped can't ride any bike)"

#   AT:   Likelihood (n/100) of having a weapon - How often they spawn with a weapon (Due to lua scripting this wont work perfectly)

#   AU:   Weapon slot 1: Type of melee/projectile - What weapon the ped will spawn with. write Unarmed to make the ped not to spawn with a weapon.

#   AV:   Weapon slot 1: Amount of Ammo - How much ammo he will have of the weapon.

#   AW:   Weapon slot 1: Selection weight for melee/projectile weapon - HIGHEST NUMBER WINS - I aint sure about this one I guess the higher you set the harder it will be for the ped to carry that weapon I think.

#   AX:   "Weapon slot 1: Available after mission (use ""init"" to signify start of game)" -Okey this one sets when do you active the weapon spawning for example : If you write here the code of "fighting Johnny vincent" which is 3_B then the ped will only spawn with the weapon you have setted after you finish "Fighting Johnny vincent". To make the ped spawn with the weapon from the start of the game set this to "init".

Consider this added to the tutorials list.

Either I ...Steman or Red will add this eventually to the mega tutorial but for now I am focusing on completing several big projects for everyone....main one being the modding magazine which has been taking me a lot longer then I planned mostly due to some depression setting in and causing me to lose interest in it temporarily....but I do plan to have that out asap along with the custom lua compiler for bully lua scripts....and some sources of the original scripts from the game so people can experiment with modding on a whole new level.

That would be much appreciated since I have a lot of work and so little time to do it all and that would save me a lot of hassle.

As far as changing it goes.....you would have to send a pm to myself...Red or Steman in order to have any changes made and just simply list what you want changed/added to that tutorial and it will be done soon as one of us has the time.

I myself have something in mind if everything goes according to my plan that is....to make a forum on my server dedicated entirely to bully modding that will house tutorials in a searchable library and each person that posts the tutorials will also have the ability to edit their own tutorials in order to update them...etc but while I intend this to only be for bully modding....I don't want to take traffic away from here since this is a excellent community....but we need to have a few extra places to house things properly for bully.

Hello im new to  the bully board and im new to this whole bully modding thing, so i was wondering whenever i open up pedstats.dat in notepad++ how do i know which ped im changing like it doesnt say there name it just says striker, or a grappler for a majority of them please help :(

Strikers can't use grapple moves unless you edit the fighting style .cat file.

Oh I forgot about B_Striker_A :p

Well in that case the G_Striker_A have a grapple move (counter attack?) that makes Jimmy trying to attack them and failing. It's hard to describe and extremly rare.

Okay so whenever i tryed to hex edit the deleted characters in free raom i forget to back up default.idb so whenver i load bully it says error, whenever i run as administrator it works although it wont change the thing like my population.dat plz help. :(

Here are 4 ways to know which ped is what (2 of them for grapplers and strikers and 2 for all of the ped kind)

(1) To know for example which prep/s is P_Grappler_A , Just edit their health and get ig and fight preps till you find them.

(2) This is a way to know which are which WITHOUT editing the pedstats.dat file. for example : P_Grappler_A - Just go in game and fight preps , now back off from the prep while fighting and shoot them with a small shot with your slingshot (make sure they dont fall from the hit) then they will run towereds you to attack , if they grapple you , then they are grapplers. If they punch / knee you then they are strikers , melees, or Ranger (not sure about the ranger)

(3) I will update my pedstats.dat tutorial and will write which ped is what in pedstats.dat for better explanesions.

(4) Some of the peds (for example Juri , Hal and Norton) use special grapplers ( bear hugs and some WWE style lifts and drops) , they are usually grapplers (Except for Russell in free roam , he is not a grappler , Russell is a grappler only in his boss style stat)

Note : Remember some of the pedstats.dat names are used by a few peds. for example : G_Striker_A

k then ill try that sometime but for now i need to figure out why whenever i open bully it says bully.exe in not responding, i think it has to with the default.idb whenever i tryed to put in the characters like gary in and i forgot to backup the file and i deleted it, so what i tryed to do is reinstall but it still wont work plz help  :(

The first step in modding is to backup your filles. If I didnt backup my pedstats.dat I would be screwed. Look at the download section , there are backup flles there , just hope that it includes the fille u need.

You cant do it with pedstats.dat you can only do it with lua or hax editing ide.img

i know it has to be edited in hex editor but how do you change fighting styles like fatty for example changing his fighting style into a non clique fighting style

There was once another Bully Forum... It was called "Bullyforums.com" or something, run by a dude called "Justin" (He is on this site as well) but it eventually died, and now Bully-Board is still alive.

I haven't played it in a while. I thought the prefect's stats were authority, but I don't see them listed in pedstats.

I don't understand, whenever I make the Prefects spawn with a weapon, they never use it. I think it's because they're scripted to use a flashlight, because at night they don't use anything when I make them spawn with a weapon.

Weapon spawning in free roam of Peds is scripted even tho, U may have wrote the weapons name wrong.
Its also rare to make a Ped spawn with a weapon, to make it a bit less rare, change the "Likehood of having a weapon" to 1000 or even 10000 and the weapon to the weapon you want.

Most of the peds you see doesnt spawn with weapons because they are spawned via trigger/ide and those peds can only have Ranged weapons, Thats why they dont spawn with weapons.

The ones with lua spawns with weapons.

It is a billy club. Yes it can be spawned since I and a few of the early modders managed to do that.

Just so you know, I will be making this section read only soon because I no longer post in this area and most of the information here is superseded by the lua modding area. Most of the information here is very outdated anyways and no longer applicable aside from things like weapon/prop/ped names...etc.
