I know that this one is pretty basic and neat.
But it's getting sort of... well.. old.
The layout that we have right now looks good, but a little bit too plain and simple.
Make it a bit flashier and give it that Bullworth Academy-feeling to it.
The background looks pretty dull and like... There should be some sort of background-image there. There should be.

Background-Image where ? There's already the one at the top.
LoL....If you think this is 'plain', you oughtta seen the old board (2006-10). This was definitely a big step up.

I say no to new layouts
they always come out wrong and harder to use.
shit the new layout for MODIO was hard to use took me days to get use to it

Our current simple layout is what makes posting on this board bearable, IMO. It's a nice, clean, and professional look. Posting on flashy sites with lots of images is unnecessarily irritating.

I can approve new designs
But lay outs if I ever see a new layout I wouldn't be on as much anymore
I don't want to get use to new lay out that's why I uninstalled APB

That shit made me uninstall it and find an older version that I could use easier.

That reminds me, Youtube changes their fucking layout every single minute, and with each new shitty layout, it get's even worse than the one before it.
I prefer the old Layout....

Got that right. After having a channel page just how I wanted it, they went and screwed things up with their 'new' shitty design. And the subscribe feeds are all messed up. I hate that.

When TENCHU says I unlocked a new layout I stay on LAYOUT 1
I can't find enemies for shit when you pick layout 2

Actually if AJ authorized it I could easily just design a new more modern theme for this forum that wouldn't really be overdone or anything....but in all reality things do need updating now and then and I would easily be able to create a brand new theme that could then be installed to the forum while keeping the bb feel of things....just the forum does have a somewhat too plain feel to its overall look and really in my professional opinion should be updated a little bit which can actually draw more visitors here and possibly more members while not totally killing those here that are forced to use slower internet like dialup.
Here is a old design I used for my clan forums several years ago which I lost the theme but can very easily make a new theme for this forum in a similar vein....but not have it overdone.
Please keep in mind....the reason why the background picture on this large screenshot looks as if its repeating...is because this is actually several screenshots pasted together..the background was actually just one pic and it never moved while the rest of the forum did since the theme was semi transparent using some advanced .css code in the theme itself.
Also keep in mind that my clan forum back then was also far larger then BB currently is and as such it also to quote one of the members "a statistics freak's wet dream" and this is the only surviving shot of that version of my clan's forum. This was about a week after building that version. This was built from a stock phpbb forum and all of the resulting code was my own and took quite a while to complete and the theme alone took about three weeks working a few hours a day on it due to the code I had to write in order to have every feature supported properly. That is the only hard part of making themes....the graphics for just this design I can crack out in a day.
here is the screenshot....this is also partially corrupted too since I recovered this from one of the damaged hdds I rescued from my house fire.

You should see my all flash based forum I coded which is still on my server and active.
Took 4 years for me to code from scratch and is fast as hell....got three versions of this...only one is finished...except for theme which has to be hardcoded basicly for lack of a better explanation.
The forum in the shot above used a complete custom security system I designed over the course of a year and it even used some code I invented that allowed you to get the real ip addy of anyone on the forum even if they used one or more proxy servers since I used a special 'proxy tunneler' code set as I named it which allowed this to be.
since BB is SMF rather then phpbb....there is no way I could add that many features as my clan forum had.....since I am not as familier with the code in SMF due mainly to my immense dislike of it to begin with....namely due to all the security holes I have found over the years of trying new versions and the lack of real features and support for any problems.....and the fact that it is not updated nearly as much as phpbb was.
At least...thats what stage it was back then....have no idea now how well SMF is updated or what amount of support it has.....but I DO have the ideas and skills to pull of a easy facelift of BB if AJ seen this topic and actually was willing to approve this....

Black layout background for the site just isn't something for me unless
everytime its nighttime I turn the lights off for sites (and use the dark theme for my desktop)
it suits me
but madman designs looks nice but I don't prefer a entire new layout since they're harder to use.
Put it this way using a pistol now im using an assault rifle which is harder to use
its like that

The general layout here would not actually change....just the look and feel of it.
Things would still be in the same places as usual...etc and it just would have a new look to the graphics.
This is of course providing AJ would be willing to let me design a new theme for the forum.
I could however, do a mockup of what this forum would look like with a new facelift....wouldnt be too hard to simulate it in ps and post a few pics here of what it COULD look like if given the green light.

Why not add a setting to use new layout switch
client sided version for people.

It could be done but AJ would have to be the one to do it since he owns this forum and is the only one of us with upload access to the server itself where this forum is hosted....I cannot do that due to not having access to that.
If AJ was willing to allow me to host BB on my own server I could handle doing that....but that is something that I am kinda reluctant to even ask AJ about since BB IS his baby.

I don't want the board to change its complete look.
I simply want it to look more impressive to the users eyes. Now, it looks too plain imo. It's just blue, yellow, white. That's it.
The most impressive thing about the layout is the banner. The rest are just plain simple colors.

I like the simple look of Bully-Board, but I don't really care about it changing or not. Maybe a new background would be cool, just like on the Bully Homepage...

I like the blue background. Easy on the eyes, plus the same color as the case the game came in.
