Bully RTX experiment
« on: July 06, 2021, 07:00:27 PM »
First of all, the shader used to simulate RTX is RTGI, made for reshade.

I have been trying to get RTX on Bully using reshade. For it to work, anti aliasing, vsync and shadows must be disabled on video settings. I have to say dough, I am unsatisfied with the result... Some areas will get really dark, while other get incredibly light and shiny. I'm not a fan of that.

Here are some examples. Note that I also used some other visual effects on reshade such as HDR.

There is also a strange bug that will make some minigames (biology class was tested) semi transparent, allowing to see jimmy as a shadow in the background:

I have also tried to make the effects of this shader more subtle so that the player can actually see in darker areas, and also not get dazzled when the sun is high. In the end, I don't think this is fit for the game.

What do you guys think?

This is a pretty neat experiment! I really love seeing stuff like this even if they don't really pan out that well. Still cool to see the results! Please post more stuff like this :)

Maybe there is a way to improve overall quality but I don't know how... Anyway, the conclusion is that rtx breaks the game (it's even better without).

RTX is not for everything.
